SIMs - double or 2 singles????

After another air mattress has bitten the dust I have decided to invest in a SIM... not sure to get a double one or go for 2 singles? can imagine 2 singles slipping apart during night? we usually go camping in car so space/weight not really a problem...
any recommendations on brands would also be good as want to make sure we get a good one. Fat airics seem to be sold out.. thinking of an outwell serenity double 7.5 cm think - anyone got one of these???
thanks campers!

I would get 2 singles as I find the double is far more of a pain to roll up tightly. Also with 2 singles you have more flexibility for fitting them into smaller places. If you are lying on them, where will they slip to that you haven't, iyswim?

Hard to say, though, you might prefer a double.

Can you get two singles that zip together? I think we have one (doesn't inflate itself though). Might be the best of both worlds.

A quick google suggests I may have invented something, sorry

We have 2 singles, and as the doubles are fairly narrow I think each of us has more room this way. Also smaller to roll up and pack.

I have a 10cm thick one, and it's noticeably more comfy than my DPs 7cm thick one.

We have 2 single Dozers which used to slide around and be a complete PITA until I ingeniously even if I do say so myself put them into a duvet cover and, lo and behold, a double bed SIM with the flexibility of 2 singles, and a nice cotton cover to sleep on instead of shiny rustly plastic stuff.

Surprisingly, 2 Dozers fit perfectly into a single (Ikea-size if it matters) duvet cover, wedged in firmly but enough give to fold in half when not in use.

thanks all, I think I've been convinced to go for 2 singles and will use the excellent diver cover idea - thanks for that!!! can't seem to find dozers online ... anyone know where that might be available to buy? am based in London...

Dozers are sold out for this year! They are sold by alpkit but I've already emailed them.
I have just taken delivery of my beautiful new exped comfort 10cm SIM. It has velcro to fix 2 together but is more pricey than the dozer. I justified it by getting it for my birthday from my dad- he thought I was mad!- " really darling? a camping mattress?"

We've got the Outwell Serenity 7.5 inch. It does take up a fair amount of space rolled but is very comfy and it's nice to be on one SIM in a double sleeping bag or under the duvet.

jobnockey · 20/06/2013 23:09

cheerup - when you say a fair amount of space how big are we talking compared to a normal double airbed for example?
am swaying towards 2 singles but am sure a double would be easier with double sleeping bag!

i am reluctant to part with cash till i know i'm getting something i'll be chuffed with!

I've got two aldi sims and stick a double fleece fitted sheet (tenner from amazon) over the top and they don't move at all. I think two singles are wider than a double...
