I really want a Bongo!

That's it, really! There is one for sale a few miles away for £3.5k which I could afford to buy (especially if I could sell my car quickly!) but I have no idea whether it's a good deal or not. It does seem quite low compared to others I've seen for sale.

It's 'N' reg and unconverted - which is what I'm looking for as it'd be my everyday vehicle.

I don't do a lot of miles...I'm a CM so most of my daily/weekly trips are local - I wonder how easy it'd be to convert it to LPG.

Be careful! Bongos are very prone to rust unless they have been properly undersealed and waxoyled and looked after well. I would be very suspicious of something that price. Sorry to state the obvious but if you are seriouslly considering it get it checked over by someone who knows what they are talking about or you could end up with an expensive heap of rust. Converting to LPG is also expensive and the long term effects on the engine may not be great. Find out more about buying a Bongo here on my blog.

Thanks Smile

I've fancied having one for a year or so and am no closer to actually buying one...I just love the idea of them Grin.

I'll have a look at your blog.

I've now found a company who make temporary conversion kits for van-like cars so have emailed to see if it would fit in my Zafira. If it does, then problem solved and I will have saved myself money and hassle by not having to change my car!

Now, I wonder if I turn my roof into a pop-top

Ooh Hiccup - if that company says yes to converting a Zafira can you let me know? That sounds ideal.

Bongos are fantastic, my N reg was £1200 with a couple of faults but now fixed.
the 2.5 diesel, is very nippy but 22MPG around town and 30 on a run.
The cooling issues you may hear about care easily looked after best bet is have a look at

And

the forum is excellent and some insurance cos give a discount if you are a club member, I have a small kitchen in the boot so I get it on classic camper insurance, no commuting and only £185 as its a second car just used for best.
So show me another vehicle that can seat 8 adults and fit in a standard car park space.

Zumo - it was amdro that I had been looking at but they say it's not suitable for the Zafira. Not enough head height Sad...would have been perfect!

Ledkr - I moan enough about how much fuel I get through in my Zafira so maybe I should just keep thinking for an alternative.

Thesecond - that does sound very appealing especially when I guiltily look over to my waitingtobedriedout bell tent zig from a camping trip 2 weeks ago Blush

We did a festival last weekend and used a pop up tent for storage and getting dressed etc.
they are not great on fuel but if you don't plan on big mileage then ok.
We had a month in francs last year and will do the same this yr but couldn't without the bongo.
