New forest booking question

Hello,

A friend booked a pitch in the new forest for in a few weeks time. They are no longer able to go, and won't be in a position to go later in the year either.

They called to see if they could transfer the booking to another friend ( same size tent, same number of people), and were told no, they will lose the deposit.

I know that the New Forest sites (forestry commission) use an external booking company, so not an issue with the site directly.

My question is, how closely do they check details when you arrive? Could they just print off the booking details and pass them along?

Thanks!

I don't know the answer for certain but it doesn't seem likely that they would check anything other than the booking name. I've never been asked to provide ID at a campsite!

I thought so too, but wanted to see if anyone had actually come up against it. Thanks for your reply Smile
