Last minute lake district

Bit disorganised and just got round to looking for a campsite in the Lakes for half term and lots seemed to be booked up.

Anyone have any tips for sites where either you can't book or somewhere nice with availability?

Look on CampsiteUK - you could search by map, and then read the reviews and hopefully lots of the ones you like the sound of will be using the Availability Checker.

The only campsites I know are the one on the lae at Patterdale / Hartsop, the one on the Farm at Glenridding (Gyhll something?) and the bigger one behind the Brothers Water Hotel or Inn on the Kirkstone Pass above Brothers water. All look v nice and all in great locations - the last has shop, cafe etc, the others more basic.

Fisherground at Eskdale is gorgeous and doesn't take bookings. Does get busy in holidays though so you might want to arrive early!

Same for us too. We are always last minute.
