Right guys I think I fancy taking up camping, my DH thinks I have lost the plot. I have this idea of a relaxing civilised time drinking wine, odd BBQ and watching the kids play around. tell me what is really like Grin

Cat64, thats the best bit Wink, packing up is a chore, but if it's done properly, it's a pleasure next time unpacking. My fave bit was when I bought a new trashy novel to read one year, read half of it, was totally gripped and thought I had put it in my handbag. Got home and couldn't find it anywhere I searched everywhere. I was absolutley convinced that I had left it on the grass Sad. Imagine my pleasure when I found it in the lining of our tent next time we went camping....bliss.

Why don't you get hot water? I spend ages chatting to people at the washing up sinks, finding out new places to visit, all about where they're going.....it invariably ends up with a beer outside someone elses tenT!

Camping is excellent fun, although i didnt take mine until they were all over 9, so had none of the little kids probs. just bought an old vw camper and toured around for a while when we felt like it. was way easier than the bother of b&bs - although admit to joining the caravan club Blush, made things civilised and were the noisy neighbours for a change - have fun.

I didn't realise they had washing up sinks at some sites....durrr so admittedly I did spend time washing up in not very hot water Grin

The fab site we went to last year had perfect hot water facilities, and a tumble drier.

UCM - been to Parkdean couple of Parkdeans - always good facilities

first time we took DS he was 13 mths and loved it
I took both kids last summer when DS was 3 and DD was 14 mths

no probs at all

going again beg of June for long weekend with another mother & her 2 (5yrs & 7yrs)

kids love being able to run around and find it an adventure

lack of toilet & shower never bothers me and the washing up is all part of the camping experience

looking forward to sitting outside the tent in the dark drinking wine with my friend while kids asleep

great opportunity to get away from TV etc too
