Norfolk/ Suffolk coast

Can anyone recommend a good campsite on the Norfolk or Suffolk coast for a weekend break. Ideally I'd like to be within two hours of Cambridge. It will be me, DD aged 4 and hopefully my best friend and her sister, we'll be in two tents and want to be next to each other. It would be good to be near the coast, walking distance of pub or somewhere else we can get dinner and clean showers and loos. All recommendations welcome.

I went to kelling Heath last summer.

It's quite expensive and regimented....marked pitches, etc. but loos were very keen, nice woodland trails, it has a pool and a parrot and a red squirrel.

They have a pub on site and a nice cafe, both do nice meals.

Close to the coast.

We went to a lovely site at Brancaster Staithe a few years ago.

Sorry hit post too early. Small site but clean. Good clean toilets and showers. Lovely pubs in the village, some good walks and stunning sandy beaches nearby we usually manage to see seals in the creek on the beach.

Oooo, Kelling Heath looks amazing, could work well for me as a nice half way house from Centre Parcs

Take a look at clippesby hall in Norfolk. It has spoilt us as we always compare where we're staying to here. All the amenities you could wish for and load for the little ones !

Kelling Heath is fab. Lots of amenities, pub, pool, playgrounds, and you can get the steam train to Sheringham.

Have heard lots of good things about Clippesby, we haven't been yet but are going in May.

www.breckfarm.co.uk/ is fantastic and allows campfires.

Have a look at High Sands Creek at Stiffkey. It is right on the edge of the marsh, with direct access to it's creeks and walks over the marsh to the sand at low tide. There is a pub, the Red Lion, within an easy stroll. Easy drive to Wells-Next-The-Sea, the next place along the coast, with it's little town and a truly fabulous sandy beach which is excellent for children.

There is also a campsite at Wells, Pinewoods, by the beach, Wells has loads of pubs, a good fish and chip shop on the quay (French's - not the other one), cafes, restaurants.

We stayed at a lovely site at Burnham Deepdale a couple of years ago.

Nice facilities, not too loud, a couple of pubs in the village as well as a cafe next to the site. It's also on the hopper bus route so easy to get around.

This one Sue? That's where we stayed too, lovely little site.

Deers glade near Cromer is the best site I've ever stayed on but it gets booked up fast

Group of friends in Norfolk are always going to Kelling Heath.

Love burnham deepdale but it can get busy and booked up. Cafe is lovely!

High Sands is also another one that i would recommend

Deepdale is brilliant. I've camped there and stayed in a yurt. Brilliantly located, nice site, hot eco showers.

Oh the cafe is super. Their breakfasts are lovely. DD adores their pancakes and they do massive homemade scotch eggs. We only live down the road!

Some great suggestions on here. Any recommendations for the Suffolk coast?

We camped at Southwold campsite last year and really enjoyed it. A bit pricey but clean, good toilets and showers, across the road from the beach with laundry facilities. About 15 minutes walk to town. I think there was a pub a bit closer or the row boat ferry to Walberswick and great fish and chips by the ferry crossing.

I was just going to say the Harbour site at Southwold. Fab yacht place for coffee and breakfast, great pub, beach, all a few minutes walk from the site,everything you could want really, and the town's nice if it's raining
