Anyone taken car on Eurostar and gone camping in France?

Please tell me about it. What was the experience of taking the car over like? Where did you then camp and what was that like?

What do you want to know? Do you mean taking the car on Eurotunnel? You just drive on the train basically, straight behind the line of cars in front. Pretty easy and efficiently done!

Camping is good in France. Lots of campsites, both private (big swimming pools etc.) and council run (still v. respectable and reasonably priced).

There is a company called Sites Abroad which does packages where you take your own tent. We've used it for sites in Brittany and Normandy and they were all very good. We go by Eurotunnel, then drive down. When we went to Brittany we booked Campanile motels half way along the route for the first and last nights so we didn't have more than 4 hours travel in the day. Great holidays - highly recommended!

Hi, personally I just get the tourist information package including accommodation/campsites from the area I want to go to. You can then choose how many or few facilities you want and/or just have a drive around and see what you fancy (maybe book a back-up just in case). Having said that, I´ve never been turned away from a campsite in France because it´s full, not when I´ve just got a tent.
