When do I need to book my UK campsite for the summer holidays? Most of the websites are still showing 2012 prices so am I a bit early?

It all depends on where and how you like to camp. Many tent campsites which allow campfires in the South of England get booked up quickly especially if they have ever been mentioned in Cool Camping or a Top 10/50 list in one of the weekend supplements. My advice would be, if you see a site you like, contact them.

Thanks hillbilly. I do have a place in mind, Woolsbridge manor farm near New Forest, so will email them. Am grimacing at the thought of campfires though (fire + 1 year old = oh shit!)

Go for it. It's never too early or too cold to be thinking about camping!

I booked our site at Easter last year I think and only got a pitch because they'd had a cancellation.
In fact plenty of people were booking their pitch for next year as they checked out.

I'm glad you asked this, I was wondering if I was being a rookie and worrying about booking too early. Will get down to choosing a site and booking ASAP now.
