Can anyone recommend a camp site near Lyme Regis? We want to take dinosaur mad ds fossil hunting this summer.
Would prefer a quieter camp site rather than a big 'organised fun' style one.

Any recommendations?

Just looked at the picture again - I think I had a lemonade in the pub whilst on holiday with the future Mr Bluebear and some friends! Wow. Have to go back now!

Thanks again Cod.

PrettyCandles - If you are about - Look at the link! Do you recognise that pub??? it was the holiday we ended up rolling down the hills on the coast path.

ooh ooh we're going to Golden Cap in August, lovely walks up to the top of the hill behind the campsite, along the cliff top then down to the pub for a pint (ice-creams for the dd's)

Try to avoid Area 9 (the overspill camping field) as it's a bit windy!! You'll need strong tent pegs and there are no toilets out there either but if you can get into the ehu bit then you'll be fine. There's a little playground area that does get a bit muddy and the reception shop sells pretty much all you need.

dh caught some mackerel on the beach last year and we cooked them on the barbie there and then - bliss - roll on the summer!

bluebear · 05/04/2006 23:09

Thanks Lucycat - Can you book to be in the main bit (not overspill) or is it first come first served for pitches?

Stayed \link{http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=1226\here} for a romantic weekend many moons ago.

It's the closest apparently.

Have camped at golden cap before, lovely place, just don't camp at the bottom of the field,it smells like shite!

Lucycat · 08/04/2006 14:52

yep you can book online or give them a ring!

PrettyCandles · 17/04/2006 22:01

Hi BB. I don't remember it all, I'm afraid (though I do remember rolling down the hill! Do you remember "guarding the clothes" - ie refusing to come into the water? Wink). The fossils were super on that stretch of beach. Good sandcastling, too. IIRC we were on the overflow and it was sheltered and quiet, though perhaps a bit far from the loos. Unfortunately, neither dh nor I can remember the campsite's name!

tamum · 17/04/2006 22:04

Might see you on the beach there :) (Not camping, but we'll be there end July/early August).

bluebear · 19/04/2006 22:41

Hi PC - nice to see you back :)

Can't remember refusing to go into the water - but I guess it had something to do with sharks - they get everywhere you know! I had been searching for the campsite we went to but haven't been able to find it, so Cod has saved me with the recommendation for Golden Cap..just need to persuade dh to book a holiday this far ahead!

Tamum - See you on the beach - I'll be the one telling the kids to get out of the water in case the sharks get them!
