Hi campers - after reading all the positive messages about camping we duly bought a trailer tent and had a brilliant holiday in September! Also upon your recommendations we have booked Sandy Balls for Easter and WERE really excited. But what is worrying me is that it is only 3 weeks away and if the weather doesn't improve I think we are all going to die of hyperthermia.....can anyone recommend a good heater? and secondly would you still go and is it possible to enjoy it being frozen to death. DH thinks I've a wuss by the way!

You'll have electric hook up? so just go for a cheap fan heater frm Argos, cost about a tenner and warm the tent/trailer up in no time.

We've got \link{http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4158972.htm\this one} and it was great!

DH wanted to go camping in the Easter hols but I refused because I thought it was going to be cold. We have decided on four days in France with indoor accomodation.
Let's hope the weather will be warmer for you. It's beautiful here in Poole today - bit of a cold breeze but the sun is really warm.
Just take plenty of jumpers etc and you'll be fine. It will be fun! Wink

layers under your sleeping bag as well as over are key. Hot drinks before bedtime. Lot sof layers....but you are brave. Whitsun is my start data Smile

farawaytree · 19/03/2006 16:07

sparkler - how about we despatch your dh to Sandy Balls and I'll come to France with you, sounds much more civilised. Grin The really annoying thing is I remember this time of year being really nice! Just my luck.

bucksmum · 20/03/2006 13:07

Don't worry it will be fine, we are camping at Easter if I ever get a campsite booked! Its fine my top tip is wear a hat at bed time and take a fleecy blanket £5 in argos to wrap round you inside your sleeping bag and then you will stay lovely and toasty at night! My other top tip is make yourself go to the loo evry hour or so throughout the evening and then you shouldn't need to get up to goto the loo in the middle of the night!

fennel · 20/03/2006 13:22

Do make sure you have spare blankets, duvets etc. being cold at night is miserable. We go at Easter sometimes, we went 3 years ago and totally froze in gales in the Lake District. but I still have photos of toddlers padding in a lake, so it wasn't all grim. find a good warm pub or cafe for food rather than try and cook outside in the cold though, that's miserable.

farawaytree · 18/04/2006 19:49

Just a post Easter update on my worries about being cold camping last week, well you will all be pleased to know we were as warm as toast....

in....

Barcelona! ok call me a wimp!

OP posts:
Lucycat · 18/04/2006 19:50

So what happened to Sandy balls? wimp

farawaytree · 18/04/2006 19:52

We let it go, I kept watching the weather forcast and in the end got a lastminute.com to Barcelona. Grin. We are still going to Sandy Balls for two weeks in August thought.

As a fanatical, sorry keen camper I do think you did the right thing!! Good Friday was lovely here during the day but it's still bloody freezing at night!

So how were the tapas?

Blandmum · 18/04/2006 20:02

We have just got back from a week in Holland in a caravan, and it was bloody cold!

A tent at Easter would be too much for my thin blood Grin
