As title - we're off on our first camping trip this weekend - for 2 nights - quite close to practice putting up the tent ;) What essentials do we need to take - only going for 2 nights - have looked on threads on here but not really found anything for just a couple of nights rather than a week! There are going to be 6 of us - but DH and I are going there during the day to put up tent on our own first! Thanks

Grin Im a camping addict, go as often as I can, been about 7 times this year already. Have pinned to my pin board Grin

Mum2Fergus · 12/09/2012 20:52

Jeeso Jaan, theyre only going for 2 nights lol that said I'll be pinching your list for our week in Oct. As an aside, there is a fab packing app called Saving Grace which covers packing list for every holiday eventuality!

Mum2Fergus · 12/09/2012 20:54

Cool Jaan, admire your commitment to the outdoors!! We've just invested in a Bongo so hoping to get out and about a bit more!

hillbilly · 12/09/2012 20:58

I'm sooo jealous! DH will absolutely not go again this year. Don't get me wrong - he loves it, but 3 camps this summer (including a damp Jubilee weekend) is quite enough for him! I, on the other hand would happily camp through till October half term :-)

Mum2Fergus · 12/09/2012 21:01

Fortunately my DP is keen to get outdoors too...as I type he and DS(3) are in the 2 man tent in the back garden lol...

JaanPehechaanHo · 12/09/2012 21:08

I leave DH at home, I pitch the tent way better than him, mine's a useless whining bast**d .. 2 nights, or a week I still take most of that shit on the list :)

nimbs · 12/09/2012 22:05

Wow - thank you so much :) will show the list to DH as he thinks knows I have a tendency to over pack! am stupidly excited - sadly the others are the kids so they can't really bring their own gear - but they don't know we're going - will be a surprise for them! Dog is staying with our neighbour this time - but will be coming next time - providing this goes well!! Can't wait :)

nimbs · 13/09/2012 09:53

The en-suite bucket !!

Mum2Fergus · 15/09/2012 15:04

Its scorchio in Carnoustie!! Woohoo Grin

nimbs · 16/09/2012 15:46

We're back - Grin had a fab time - thanks for all your advice - def made it a smoother camping trip - all knackered and smelly! A quick question re: camping & caravan club membership - is it worth taking it out? We live v.close to the New Forest so are thinking that we could go to the Forest campsites for weekend breaks which have a discounted rate - but is it worth it for anywhere else? Cheers!!

Ah, thats great Nimbs...we had a fab w/end too Grin cant comment on CCC, have never joined or investigated. Like most things Im sure it would be a worthwhile investment provided you plan to get away regularly Smile
