Anyone else going? We have booked for three nights and the weather forecast looks dire. Still going though (masochistic emoticon). Debating buying a county flag and identifying ourselves to the campsite for company and commiseration/wine.

Anyone been recently? What is the road/trail like atm?

Looking forward to the pain au chocolat, pizzas and chilled out atmosphere.

We were there this weekend, it was weirdly foggy but humid one day and glorious sunshine the next. At least even on the foggy day there was plenty to entertain the kids, the central 'yard' area has been further improved. I found the shop a bit annoying though, fine for expensive bacon and other meat products but no rice, cous cous or tea bags. The track is pretty lumpy. Oh and by the way apparently some tents where being moved off of 'Beach Field' the week before in the middle of the night because of high winds. Hope forecast improves a bit for you!

luciadilammermoor · 21/08/2012 21:09

Thanks, that's useful! Have just bought a Coleman event shelter to be delivered before weekend to counteract weather. Our belltent is super but bit tricky in wet weather with cagoules/eating/cooking so have been looking at these for a while.

tonight I had three glasses of wine and pressed the amazon button to buy! PLus a zip in wall plus some bunting (pissed camping buying emoticon)...

Any other pissed purchasing out there?

PS (to me) must remember to buy gas canisters before Friday, rather than bunting...

Nothing weird about our weather, it's unique Grin

luciadilammermoor · 21/08/2012 21:21

Oh hello Five you were very helpful last year re Camp Bestival. I was brought up in Scotland so used to moist conditions but DH is French (from South) so grumps bigtime if clouds emerge on horizon.

Dorset is a beautiful part of the world.

Thank you.

It is great, can be really murky where we are, and get to the other side of the woods, .5 of a mile and it can be blazing sunshine, and the other way round.

It is beautiful, hope you enjoy. Sunday looks OK.

We were there this weekend too, Friday til Monday. We had a great time. Absolutely loved it and will definitely be going back again. You have a bongo hz? I saw a couple but can't remember where. Where were you pitched? We were in the 'Flat field'

hz · 21/08/2012 22:09

No offence intended fivegomadindorset. Totally made up for any weirdness, I mean unique-ness the next day anyway! snowmummy we were pitched in East Field, right along close to the holiday camp where we got to watch crazy outwardbounders chuck themselves down enourmous zip wires and climb giant climbing walls, oh, and we could see the sea. Not a part of the camspite you'd be likely to pass by though!

snowmummy · 21/08/2012 22:17

Nope, we didn't so there must've been a few bongos then. HAve you been there before? We all loved it. Best site we've ever been to (in our 4 month camping career)!

MummyPigsFatTummy · 21/08/2012 23:06

We were there this weekend too - Saturday (should have been Friday but things went pear shaped) until Monday. We were in Point Field (furthest from everywhere I think but great views and no cars) with friends with a Bongo.

Fabulous weather, although the fog business was a bit odd. Bell tents and event shelters seem to be pretty much the order of the day at Eweleaze - that is our set up too.

DD (2.9) had a wonderful weekend, playing on the haystacks and cuddling the guinea pigs (at least until one pooed on her).

V jealous of you going there for the long weekend. Definitely going back for longer next year.

luciadilammermoor · 22/08/2012 13:35

So looking forward to it.

If anyone is going, we have a belltent, an event shelter and (ahem) quite a lot of bunting plus three DC and some alcohol. Stop & say hello!

snowmummy yes we went last year. It is a good campsite and has a lovely atmosphere, bit like a festival I always think. No good if you are after peace and tranquility though!!

fivegomadindorset · 22/08/2012 21:44

There was a gueue going in when I drove past this afternoon.

amistillsexy · 22/08/2012 22:41

Ok you've all got me going now...can someone link to event shelters please and please let them be cheap. Thanks

janinlondon · 23/08/2012 11:25

We were there Friday to Wednesday, corner field. Only one day of strange fog - the rest of the days were glorious. Track is currently dry and safe. Fields all dry too. Massive queues in the shop and bakery, but both much extended from last year. New barn now up to sell firewood and hay bales, cleaning routine for the showers is much much better this year, there are ten hot showers in the corner of the chicken field, extra loos installed in corner field, a pontoon now floating off the beach for the kids to jump from, and they have bought in some new animals - including a horse and foal (beware, Bramley likes to rifle through your rubbish in the night). Otherwise, same old Eweleaze.

luciadilammermoor · 23/08/2012 18:24

Making my tablet/fudge to take with us and planning meals. It's gonna be good!

We were there the first week of August, when the sailing was on in Weymouth. We thought that it was quieter than normal, although it did get busier.

We have been eyeing up those Coleman event shelters. They look mighty fine indeed.

fivegomadindorset · 23/08/2012 20:27

The whole area was quieter than normal, we run a B&B and it was crap.

keepmoving · 23/08/2012 22:27

We were there too last weekend - should have had a mumsnet flag! Showers so much better this year (warm!) and loos much less smelly (according to DC2). Do wish they'd do something about the track thought we were going to topple over in the car at one point as we moved over on to a steep passing point to let another lot of cars pass.

Thought it was busier this year but could be that we have previously gone at the end of the season?

DCs had an amazing time, it's one of their favourite places. Climbing hay bales, being pushed around in a giant drum, stroking the foal, puppies and guinea pigs etc.

Second watch out for the greedy horse! tried to rifle through our rubbish while we were by the tent!

Have a fab time!

phoebechicken · 24/08/2012 15:17

We were there on Beach Field last week, Sun-Sat, during said high winds. It was pretty scary, the (bell) tent was blowing about like mad and 2 of the pegs kept getting ripped up until I triple-pegged them with extra supplies from the shop! But despite the crazy weather we had a fab time and would definitely go again.
I too want an event shelter!
