Camping in the Vendee

Can anyone shed any light on the best camping company to go with? I have heard negative things about Keycamp/Eurocamp does anyone have any views on Thompson Al Fresco as they seem to be the best prices? What about Canvas?

Clary Plage seems to get good reviews on here, any views?

Not done the camping thing in France since I was a kid so my experience is a little out of date!

We are planning to go to the Vendee next June

Thanks!

Just got back from camping bel (reviews on MN)
In tranche sur mer.
Booked with direct camping or camping direct ?? but stayed in keycamp van for £150 cheaper than keycamp.
Visited a eurocamp van, it's just newer otherwise identical and £300 more.

In my experience Eurocamp and Keycamp are both very good companies any negative reviews you have heard are probably down to personal experience only. Canvas Holidays are very good and so are Thomson Al Fresco. I don't think you can really go wrong with any of them.
What you need to look at is the ferry prices. Canvas Holidays include a basic return ferry in their prices but with additional payments if you decide to travel from another port.
In reference to Clarys Plage, it's a superb campsite and i don't think you would be disappointed by it. Have a look at the review HERE

Thank you.

Just found out a friend is going to Bel in a couple of weeks and have told her I want a full review of accommodation!

Good to here about key camp/eurocamp, yes canvas seem to be only one to include ferry but TBH would do tunnel anyway.

We've recently come back from Les Mouettes with Eurocamp and it was brilliant. Staff were really good and can't fault them. The mobile home was clean tidy and they even got us a travel cot which we forgot to book, which they gave us for nothing. Went with Canvas a couple of years ago and same with them. Not sure about thomson or Keycamp as haven't travelled with them so far. We booked direct with Canvas but went through gocampfrance for Les Mouettes this year and were quite impressed. Looking to book next years holiday now we are back will have to take a look at Clarys Plage if its got good reviews as we fancy going a little further south!

We've just come back from www.campingpinparasol.fr/en/ and it was lovely. Amazing pool set up, had to drag DD away from it most days, close to 2 beautiful beaches and the lake that it's on is wonderful too.

We took our own tent but the lodgetents, chalets & mobile homes looked rather nice. Whole campsite spotless & v. well run, although not enough loo cubicles for my dodgy bladder's liking (I think they assume everyone's in a caravan with their own facilities, so us in proper tents get a bit of a raw deal there!)

We've just returned from two weeks in the dordogne. We went to a flower camping site. I have to admit the big sites (keycamp etc) just look too much for me! I'd worry where the dc's were all the time etc! So flower camping fitted the bill, smaller sites but still with facilities. Staff were so lovely and friendly, remembering my dd's names! Sight beautiful and clean. We got to know lots of lovely friendly people too!
Obviously you don't want to go to the dordogne but check out their websight www.flowercampings.com/en/campsite-vendee-loire-atlantique/
Hope you find somewhere lovely! X

We've been to Bel in la Tranche Sur Mer the last two years, we're going next year too! It's ace. The first year we went with Keycamp and it was great. We do it ourselves now and it's so much cheaper... Smile
