What are your camping essentials?

We are first time campers and aside from a tent, beds and sleeping bags I have no clue what we need to take.

So if you were going away for weekend/long weekend camping trips what would you take??

have you looked at ukcampsite? they have a very good checklist on there which may help.

My essentials would be cadac, fridge, torches, chairs, cooking equipment, crockery and cutlery. Some toys for dc like cards, pencils and paper, for quiet play in the mornings when people are sleeping as ds is always up early!

cool box/ice packs
table
chairs
pillows
air beds and blower (we have self inflating mattress, dc's have readybeds)
head torches
cooker
cooking stuff
toys/ds for kids
blankets for the evening
mallet and peg puller

oh, rechargable light for tent.

I was just wondering why our car is always so full as my list is so small!!

Chairs, lights and something to make a cup of tea with. Everything else is a luxury but then I go camping with ds and a two seater sports car so our packing is really limited. We just buy our provisions on a daily basis as no room for a cool bag. If I had space I would buy an Iceytek cool box.

So happy now we've upgraded to a caravan - means I no longer have to think about packing 'light' - might as well fill it up AND the back of the car!!
