Thinking of one for weekends because our Khyam is gorgeous but a MONSTER

There are four of us - dh and me, and dds (11 and 7). Will it fit four people in? Dh and I sleep on an airbed and kids on self-inflating mats, all the reviews I've read go along the lines of 'two of us slept in this with room to spare' and 'this gave lots of room for me and my toddler'.

What about four actual people? Will we fit in? Also is it cold and draughty at night with no proper SIG? Is there a footprint groundsheet? Can we fashion on out of a ratty old tarp?

etc

We have the xxl 2 seconds as well and sleeps 4 (us and DD's 5 and 3). We too use SIM's (but the very very thick ones).

Do they not have SIG's? Ours has a footprint groundsheet and the sleeping compartment completely enclosed. Looks the same on the 4.1?

I can't quite picture that but probably just as well :o

Ooh I like the look of that gazebo thing! It would be like having a tent conservatory.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 15/06/2012 22:03

well that's what i was thinking... i have a tarp, really love that. but this is cheaper and looks like it might create a shelter that i could cook in without too much panic. horrid colour, though.

thisisyesterday · 15/06/2012 22:13

would a gazebo not blow away if it was windy though?

DowagersHump · 15/06/2012 22:14

I am crap at putting the tarp up and cannot do it on my own. I like the mozzie sides too. Also, who cares what the colour is? You can't see it once you're inside it - bit like living in an ugly house :) With lovely lights you could make it into a glamping paradise!

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 15/06/2012 22:22

it's a great price, certainly. i like it, but i should probably experiment more with my luscious tarp.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 15/06/2012 22:24

OMG do you think it would release us from the misery of midges?

DowagersHump · 15/06/2012 22:31

Yes, surely it would?

at cock and ballsGrin

Dh is getting it out today.....the tent that is! I shall report back how I get on with just the dses to assist.

I ordered the porch too . I figured it may be the perfect porch. The reviews are good, just hope it packs up small.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 16/06/2012 10:30

i got it too... also having fits at the thought that it might not pack up small. my tarp is ridiculous, so tiny... this is going to be a whopper by comparison.

LostInWales · 16/06/2012 12:23

Aitch your way with words is legendary Grin. DH and I called it the 'cock and balls' fold too and I was so relieved when I came on MN and found we weren't alone.

I like the look of the gazebo for when we are traipsing around football tournaments. We have a quechua tarp for camping, we are dab hands at erecting (snigger) it for different conditions

LostInWales · 16/06/2012 12:26

The shambles that is team lost on tour

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 16/06/2012 17:36

that looks great! we do something similar but i don't like having to dive underneath the sides...

Cappster · 21/06/2012 11:11

Another thing just struck me - the storage area, does it close off at night? Because if the groundsheet velcros up, does it do it around the storage area too? Or do you velcro it round the living area and then a load of wind appears through the storage area?

no, the storage area isn't closed off at all.

but the sleeping compartment is completely enclosed, and very warm and snug if it's full we found! lol
