Where should we go this summer?

We've got plans to go camping again this summer. Last year we went down to the New Forest and it was lovely but a bit far for us to travel. We have 2 dds, aged 12 and 2.

I'm looking for recommendations for somewhere to go. Within about 5 hour drive of Carlisle, with suitable places to visit for both an almost-teen and a toddler. We don't mind a fairly basic campsite (as long as there are toilets and showers). Can anyone recommend anywhere?

We stayed here in North Devon last year. It's a lovely friendly family orientated site.If you don't require ehu then the camping field at the back of the site is much more spaced out.

up here is lovely
Or lots of lovely places in Dumfries and Galloway which is v. Handy for you

Those both look very nice thank you. Devon is probably a bit far for us to travel really, but I'm keeping it in mind for when dd2 is a bit older.

Scotland is really nice, think we might go a bit further afield than Dumfries and Galloway seeing as that's where dp is from and it's like going home for him rather than holiday. I do like the look of the campsite you linked to caer but will need to check out the area for suitable day trips for our 'not-very outdoorsy' 12 yo.
