Icey Tek Top Tip!

First outing for ours this weekend - I didn't have many gel freezer packs so I froze a load of Ice Cube Bags to pack amongst the food (as much as possible pre-frozen), and hey presto - ice cubes for our drinks!

Only a Fri - Sun trip, so depleting the ice level wasn't disastrous, stuff was still v v cold when we got home.

Thanks Blu, we go on Saturday for 6 nights and any tips for the iceytek are great fully received!

That's what we did, used a couple of large bottles of water from the freezer to pre cool and then some bags of ice amongst the food, first time I've never thrown any food out and the ice was still great on the last night for Pimms Grin

Actually, looking at that Tesco link, I wouldn't trust those as they seem to have some automatic sealing thing, which I bet would leak as soon as any melting started - I don't like pools of water in the bottom of the cooler. I just used old fashioned knotted ice cube bags.

Yes, I froze some plastic bottles of water for the pre-cooling, and took some with us as drinking water.

The lid of the Tek was very cold - is cold supposed to escape through the lid?

No I don't think so. My lid doesn't feel cold.

Hmmmmm.

Over the weekend there is no doubt that the Tek performed better than any other coolbox i have used - but it wasn't the miracle of ice that I had hyped myself up for - and by Sat am the surface of the id was COLD and had condensation on it....not the sides, just the lid.

using mine for the first time next week too

Blu the lid of mine never feels cold either and I've been using it continuously for 6weeks - I would call them after the weekend may be? I certainly don't have condensation forming, either.
