They have replied!

RighteousDude · 29/05/2012 16:53

I'm stil sulking with the bastards because they won't and bell tents here. Seems mean and wrong that you can buy one from there if you live anywhere but the uk. Bastards

SpringHeeledJack · 29/05/2012 16:54

do go to the acksheral shop if you can

it has to be the Hottest Shop in the Low Countries

but it's fucking massive. And the tow caravan hangar is to die for

Grin
SpringHeeledJack · 29/05/2012 16:58

Dude iirc the bell tent dealers over here have got Obelink tied into an agreement not to sell their (identical) cheap BTs in the UK, so that they can sell 'em to us at three times the price instead

go over there and buy one- we did. Got a lovely tent and a holiday to boot!

RighteousDude · 29/05/2012 16:59

I haven't got a passport Blush

SpringHeeledJack · 29/05/2012 21:19

aww bugger Sad

issyocean · 29/05/2012 21:25

It's a tent wing to compliment my obelink bell tent. Will be trying it out weekend of the 8th so will post some pics when I get back Grin

SeaShellsUnderCanvas · 29/05/2012 21:26

Hmm, I priced obelink up earlier this year cf to uk and it was :

Obelink

RighteousDude · 29/05/2012 22:49

The difference between the pig was just over £100. The difference between the zig was only about £40

So I bought the zig

I got it from karma canvas though mostly because soulpad were sold out

Also karma canvas one had a mesh door which the obelink / soul pad didn't and we've got a newly crawling baby, thought a mesh door would be the very thing to contain her

It is lovely

Sorry for hijack

Is it the tarp thing you've got issyocean?

issyocean · 30/05/2012 07:26

yy this one The other one just looked too big for us.

OP posts:
SeaShellsUnderCanvas · 30/05/2012 09:36

Yup, we got the zig, and at 40£ difference I ended up getting it from soulpad so it was easy to deal with any problems (there have been nine)

We have obelink's wing tarp-it is good but pretty big!

SeaShellsUnderCanvas · 30/05/2012 09:37

Nine?!!!! Sorry none !!! Fat fingers this morning!

MummyPigsFatTummy · 06/06/2012 11:31

Just a thought, but we got round the Obelink UK delivery ban with an inner tent we ordered last week by having it sent to the French campsite we were staying at. We obviously asked the campsite first if they were ok with us having a delivery sent to them and they were fine with it.

Not an option for everyone but if you are thinking of buying a bell tent or inner and are heading to the continent anyway this summer, you could see if the site you are going to would accept delivery - it is only the UK and Ireland that are covered by the Belltent.co.uk agreement. Obviously you have to work out the timings quite carefully, but their delivery is normally pretty efficient.

Migsy1 · 14/06/2012 23:46

Have you tried ordering from the Dutch site? Don't click on the British flag. I'm pretty sure you can order if you use the Dutch website.

Sunshinenow · 14/06/2012 23:51

I have ordered from the Dutch site :)

I tested out various options and it seems their system doesn't actually check if you are buying the prohibited tents Wink

MummyPigsFatTummy · 15/06/2012 00:25

That's interesting Sunshinesnow. We tried that a couple of weeks ago to get the inner tent (which doesn't even say they don't ship it to the UK and Ireland) and a couple of days later we got an email saying our order had been cancelled. DH rang them up and they were adamant they wouldn't send it and impervious to arguments about breaches of EU law. We might have taken it further but decided to just get round it by having it sent on to France instead.

Fingers crossed yours goes through then - I had a 5m bell slip through the net last year so perhaps it is just the luck of the draw.

Smile
Sunshinenow · 15/06/2012 00:50

Did you order from the uk or the Dutch site? Maybe they manually try to pick the illicit orders out.

MummyPigsFatTummy · 15/06/2012 00:54

The Dutch site - I don't think they even appear on the UK site, do they?

I think there is maybe some manual sorting, as you say. Fingers crossed it is just random bad luck we were spotted (we did have some email communication with them which may have made us a target).

SeaShellsUnderCanvas · 15/06/2012 18:39

We called this "Canvas Roulette" last year - some orders got through - good luck!!
