Annecy in August - temperatures?

Hi,

We are off the Annecy camping in August and are wondering what the temperature will be like - we have not visited this area before. Have looked on-line and (obviously) it varies....

Is it usually t-shirt and shorts weather in the day time, or slightly more clothes? Totally boiling or is the fact it is at higher altitude mean that is is slightly cooler?

What about at night? Just so I have an idea what to take for sleeping in inside the tent. We usually go to the Vendee area, if anyone can let me know their experiences, that would be appreciated. Thanks!

I haven't camped at Annecy but temperatures when I've been there have been pleasantly warm. You are more likely to get thunderstorms though as it is an inland/mountainous area.

Hot hot hot! Think south of France weather ie. shorts, beachwear. It's always possible to feel a bit chilly at night even in hot places due to clear skies so would take jeans & fleeces too. Annecy is gorgeous & the lake fantastic for cooling off.

We will be going thru Annecy up to the Alps this summer - have lived there in the summer so I know it's hot! I'm looking forward to a cooling dip in the lake on the way. Enjoy Smile

If you are planning to go up Mont Blanc the you will need some cool weather clothes for that.

Thanks everyone! I thought it would be hot at times, but didn't want to take lots of shorts, etc and then find it wasn't that warm at all.

Will take a good selection of warmer stuff too, for evenings and any days with thundery weather Smile

Take a rain coat. And an umbrella!!!

It's stunning there...we had a lovely time when we went 2 years ago.

Hot - it was 40 degrees c and used the lake a lot to swim to stay cool - as the lake is cooler.

We went a little further south in the end and found that there was much more of a breeze and more comfortable temperature

Which campsite you are going to? We have been thinking about the Annecy area for our first foray into camping holidays! It looks so beautiful. One campsite I saw that looked good was L'ideale in Lathuile but I wondered if anyone has any other recommendations.....
