Aldi Crisis

Anypointinseeingdoc · 22/05/2012 11:21

I have just seen on the Aldi website the preview of the camping gear for this year and they don't have self-inflating mattresses! I needed 4 of them, but in the preview they just have the big inflatable ones. Is there any hope that they will do the self-inflating ones later in the year?

We have dozers already, but we are buying another set of camping gear to leave at the in-laws so we can go camping from there too. I don't want to spring for any more dozers and I need something cheap cheap cheap!

What about LIDL?

Anypointinseeingdoc · 22/05/2012 12:33

Checking Lidl website obsessively. I need to lie down from the stress of it all.

£12.99
£17.99

Anypointinseeingdoc · 22/05/2012 15:14

Thanks, not too sure about those as they are thinner than the old Aldi ones which were about 5cm for a tenner IIRC but I might have to compromise. Or buy two for my old bones.

I have Aldi ones, and find that because they are cheap the foam in them is not as dense as that in expensive mats, so 5cm of Aldi mat is not more comfortable than a thinner Outwell mat I have. Hard to tell without seeing them. I bet Aldi will have them again.

kahlua4me · 22/05/2012 22:07

Costco ones are good. They are 7.5cm thick and cost about £18.00 I think

Lucky13 · 22/05/2012 22:39

Definitely Costco - they are so comfy, even fussy DH thinks they are great!

Baileyscoffeeandcampfires · 23/05/2012 08:25

Another vote for Costco. This will be our 4th year using them without any issues.

Anypointinseeingdoc · 23/05/2012 19:05

Oooh, thanks, I will ask round to see if anyone has a Costco card. Will have a look at the thinner ones too Blu, thanks.

oooh we are going to Ikea soon and Costco is just around the corner. 7.5cms of comfiness........
tho i have Dozers too somewhere, i like to pile em high!!!

WetAugust · 23/05/2012 23:25

Never used one. Are they really comfortable - they don't look it?

Anypointinseeingdoc · 24/05/2012 10:19

Just had a look on the Costco website and DH can join because of his job! Didn't think that would be possible. Very excited now!

The SIMs are more comfortable than they look, and they provide more insulation than the airbeds.

NT, i am developing princess and the pea-like tendencies too!

can you search the Aldi website for products without being a member? I can't fnd the CostCo mats on the site.

juicymelon · 24/05/2012 15:50

Aldi have SIM listed to come in on Sunday 31st may Grin

Anypointinseeingdoc · 24/05/2012 16:58

All that stress for nothing! They weren't on there when I started this thread! Plan B is to buy a couple of Aldi ones for the kids, and try the Costco ones for us, if we get the membership sorted out. I am very excited about the prospect of going to Costco and have sold the idea to DH by pointing out that we can buy cheap car tyres there.

I don't think Aldi has membership, Blu,so you should be able to see everything. You can't see the products on the Costco website unless you are a member.

Blu · 24/05/2012 17:31

Oh, yes, sorry - I meant i couldn't see the CostCo products - duh to self!

I'm going to be at the doors on Thursday morning for the camping cupboard!!

Wolfgirl · 31/05/2012 10:55

COSTCO! most definitely, approx £18, but sooooooooooo worth it!

Wolfgirl · 31/05/2012 10:58

Anypoint... where do you live? My nearest is the Avonmouth\Bristol one. Happy to meet you there mid next week to help you buy some.... but if you wanting them for this weekend, all a tad late.

In the meantime (too) hope you get your membership sorted. BTW... if you take out an American Express cc through costco, you pay £20 annual for the card... but it also covers your costco membership too.

HTH

SparkyUK · 18/06/2012 00:25

Reviving this to add that we have the costco ones and they seem great value to us. back up smaller than some of the others (we have 5cm ones from Blacks for the kids that are significantly larger) and more comfortable too.

But the real reason for posting is just to check, how do you check products on the Costco site? I'm a member but don't see any way to see their product line online. I'm a missing something obvious?
