Delta pegs?

I have seen lots about Delta pegs on here. I have also decided that the pegs which came with the tent are rubbish. This may not be helped by the ground in our back garden where we were practicing actually being quite soft after it's rained for a couple of days.
How do Delta pegs work and why are they better?

These uber-pegs get really good write-ups on UkCampsite and there is an equipment review on there.

Delta pegs are shaped like a 7 so as the guy pulls they dig in.

Yes they do work. I can't get them out though! Dh has to do it. You only need 4 ... We put one on each corner.

yes fab - I'm getting some more for this year for the tarp too.

They do get tighter as the guy pulls - somethng to do with forces n all that - but they can be determined little sods when you try to pull them out Grin

Are they only for the guy ropes or can you use them to secure the groundsheet to the ground?

You could do... I guess .. If you wanted...

They are no.7 shaped with little cut out hooks in the top to take the guy.

Is it for the tarp underneath your tent ... Does your tent have a sig ? Or does it have a separate groundsheet .?

Lucycat · 13/05/2012 12:39

You'd be better with flat headed tent pegs like these metal ones or maybe the plastic sort like these ones for an 'under' groundsheet I'd have thought.

We use deltas as we attach a tarp to the front of our tent using clingons to provide extra shade.

The tent has a SIG. Just that the last time we put it up the guys stayed attached to the ground but the tent itself rose up lime a kite!
