Icey tek or electric coolbox?

Now I am getting rid of the sports car and getting a proper size car I have room for a proper size coolbox. Which is best - an icey tek or an electric coolbox that I can plug into the socket in the boot?

icey tek

from what I could tell, the electric ones basically just have a fan in the top to blow air around, so if they aren't well insulated they don't actually keep it any cooler.

so you're better off with a decent properly insulated coolbox.

not as nice looking as the icey tek, but we have the coleman xtreme which coped admirably last summer, kept stuff cold for 5-6 days easily

We have an elecrtric coolbox with dual voltage so it runs off a car cigarette lighter and a proper plug if you have a EHU. It is fab. Keeps stuff very chilled. We have a normal coolbag with ice packs and I swop stuff between the two Bought it off ebay for about £80. We take it out in car in the day too for keeping drinks chilled! But.... dont forget about it and leave it plugged into the car overnight - you could end up with a flat battery (Yep, voice of experience!).

No experience of the Icey Tek though - so would be interested in hearing the comparison.

Icey tek.

Electric toolboxes can be noisy and most don't actively chill in the way a fridge would so they just help maintain the cool provided by the ice packs. If you don't regularly get ehu anyway it's a bitnof a non starter.

Get the icy tek, buy a bag of ice every few days, job done. Much easier, more stylish and doubles as a seat.

We don't do EHU so sounds like an Icey Tek is the best option. I'm sure I'd end up leaving the electric one plugged in the boot and forget about it, which wouldn't make me popular! I like the idea of a seat too.
