Do you have bunting and if you do how long is it Grin

I have just bought a bell tent from the very lovely chimchar and am currently horrifying DH with all the poncy things I need to buy to compliment it.

Bunting!? Why? Where does it do? Confused

I would recommend a string of pirate flags.

AKMD · 13/04/2012 08:17

Where does it *go?

ReshapeWhileDamp · 13/04/2012 15:15

AKMD, are you Slubber in disguise? it can go wherever you want it to go. Some people like to delineate their camp with bunting festooned round the boundaries, a bit like dogs peeing on their territory. Grin Others hang it inside from the central pole, which looks pretty. It is pretty. And we hang ours looped into the little loops that help you roll your sides up, on the outside. I have about 6 metres, I think.

OP, it's very easy to make bunting, FFS don't pay soul pad/bell tent co whatever absurd, Peddlars-like sum they're charging. Google it. Smile

AKMD · 13/04/2012 17:13

Nope, no idea who Slubber is :)

I like the idea of taking about 100m of bunting and setting up my own garden around the tent. Perhaps I could play a game to see how many water taps, fruit trees, pathways and toilet blocks I could claim as mine? Hmm...

Is there some sort of bunting pecking order? Bunting made from scrap Boden at the top, ready-made plastic a' la greengrocers at the bottom and recycled newspaper clippings interspersed with lentils looking sniffily on?

A whole new world is opening before my eyes...

issyocean · 13/04/2012 20:29

Hahahaha thanks Grin

I got the soul pad bunting, I hand one part around the awning and the other inside (or lend it to another bell tenter!!

pethaubach · 14/04/2012 12:33

I've got 9m of bunting, I thread it through the fabric hoops all the way around the outside of our SoulPad.

Agree don't pay out for the bell tent ones, I got ours from eBay for less than £5!

We've also got a big floral doormat Grin

issyocean · 14/04/2012 17:23

I want so much stuff! H says he's having his own tent - on another site Grin

He's a basic tent, fire, surfboard kind of guy Grin

Hey issy.

So glad you're into the whole bunting thing....as I told you, we don't have bunting , but we do have fairy lights!

Am on the look out for bunting though....something suitably cool. Grin

Get some...you have to!!! Your dh will love the tent when you try it...I bet he'll be a convert!

stayathomegardener · 14/04/2012 22:33

Have just purchased some solar fairy lights -currently outshining the bunting

issyocean · 15/04/2012 07:46

I don't have a bell tent but do very much fancy the idea of some solar fairy lights to festoon my tent and make it tres pretty of an evening. Have found some on Maplin site and am tempted to buy. I am just unsure of how to attach them to my tent (Quechua Base Seconds 4.2). Any ideas?

ifeelloved · 20/04/2012 14:59

Get some cable ties

ifeelloved · 20/04/2012 14:59

Or those twisty things

Migsy1 · 20/04/2012 17:08

Solar fairy lights are ace wrapped around the central pole. I have bunting which I put around the doorway - I link it through something or other. Ebay is best for bunting. Bargain shops best for solar fairy lights. Soulpad and Belltent glampware is for people with much more money than I have. Wink

I have 2 lots of bunting (actually it's 3 lots now but don't tell DH) - the one that spells out Home Sweet Home goes across the tarp that we use as an awning (which we got from Chimchar!), the patchwork union jacks go around the doorway with the solar fairy lights and the new spotty ones... I haven't decided yet. They are quite long, so they will probably end up inside around the loopy things. I have the tealight chandelier on the pole so I don't put anything around that.

There's a pic of my tent with the bunting around the doorway about 4 down on my profiel.
