Even as I write I feel shivery, but we are wondering about camping up near Hexham in half term, seeing Roman sites, going over border (children not been to Scotland). Children range in age from nearly 3 to 7. All been camping since babies, but more of the warm south of france variety. They haven't camped North of London!!

Any ideas/ suggestions of campsites. How cold is it likely to be? Big tent with more inside space or little touring tent which just fits all five of us, but maybe more snuggly?

Herding hill farm near haltwhistle. Tearoom, short walk to pub, alpaca's and petting animals, hadrian's wall very accessible, sauna!, firepits available and you could maybe spend one night in one of their wigwams if you do find it too cold.
