As well as buying the fun stuff, I want to buy a CO monitor but I'm not sure which one is suitable for use in a tent. Can anyone recommend one please? Smile

Watching with interest.

I have a belltent with stove and bought a carbon monoxide and smoke alarm combined in one unit. I would not recommend this type.
I think the best idea would be to get a smoke alarm with silence button, then a separate carbon monoxide alarm. As last time we camped a tiny bit smoke escaped from the stove(wet log) which set off the alarm which we promptly silenced to avoid waking the kids, but then I started to get all worried that it was the carbon monoxide alarm.(there are no lights to tell you what is setting it off) So I'll be buying some new ones soon and using the combined unit at home.

I was thinking of ordering this one, what does everyone think?

I'm not sure Moomin - it looks fine, but it's so difficult to work out if they are suitable for tents, isn't it? I've done all sorts of searches for CO monitors and camping/tents, but nothing shows up so have emailed the Camping and Caravanning Club for advice as well as posting on here.

I just bought a standard CO alarm from Argos.

Though I have to say this digital one is nice: www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7001590/Trail/searchtext%3ECARBON+MONOXIDE.htm

Thanks Poulay - can I ask where you put it in your tent, and how you attach it?

Apparently it doesn't matter much.

According to this you shouldn't put it on the ceiling:

www.co-bealarmed.co.uk/how-to-stay-safe/fitting-an-alarm

It does mention having it at head height, which would be on the floor if you are sleeping.

If I was going to buy another one, I'd get the digital one, just because it's nice to know that it's detecting something.

Yep, I'm def going to order one with a digital readout. On the Fireangel site it does say that they are suitable for caravans and travel.
