Camping in Brittany for a week at the end of May with an 8 month old

DH and I love camping and really need a holiday! We were thinking of getting a Canvas Holidays maxi tent for a week towards the end of May, in Brittany. We've got a (currently 6mo) DD so thought going to a maxi tent rather than doing normal camping might be an easier solution.

Is this a mad idea? DD wakes every 3 hours at night. Are the other people going to kill us despite it being advertised as a family friendly site? Are we going to freeze in May?

I personally would say go for it, a ready made tent will cut out all the gear you need to take so you'll have room for all the baby 'stuff' they inevitably need at that age and you'll be fine if you take layers and blankets I'm sure weather can be lovely that time of year apparently (heard from friends who always go may half term....we're going for first time (well since being kids)with 2yo DS end of june)..... And your lo may well have changed her sleeping pattern by end may anyway but I seem to remember that the tents are pitched reasonably far apart...... Get it booked!! :o

depends if you can silence your child quickly during the night. i had friends whose child did this and the family next door complained to the campsite and they nearly got chucked off. yes sites are family friendly but most families don't want to get woken through the night by someone else's child.

i'd go either side of half term hols as the sites will be much quieter. it will be nice during the day, but bit cold at night - few degrees warmer than south coast.

Normally very warm in Brittany in May we were camping in Southern Brittany on the 1st May last year and it was very, very hot. Cooler on a night but just pull on a fleece kind of thing.

Don't know about the campsite, I've never heard a baby crying in the night to be honest (although mine did once) but once when we were in a Keycamp mobile home (again in Brittany) apparently somebody complained about the caravan next to us because they could hear their children running round after 8.00 at night. The reps did speak to the family on holiday and ask them to keep it down.
