Motor Home Novice - HELP!! needed for this weekend

So I have left all planning of DH's 40th (Wednesday) until today Confused

He has always been obsessed interested in the idea of a Motor Home / Camper Van type thing I would rather eat my own head

So, I thought I would hire one for this weekend and we could try it out. I know he will love driving it about and pretending he is a free spirit instead of a Mr Corporate for a couple of days.

We are in South West London/Surrey Borders

I have found someone that has a pitch and looks nice in Dorset Bagwell Farm? But I am happy to take alternative recommendations.

The problem is the only hire places seem to be North - so we would be driving North to then come back south again. Does anyone have any suggestions about Motor home companies nearer to us? Good place to stay on a cold and possibly wet weekend we have 2 DC 5 & 6

And what should we take? Bedding? Food? What else?

Thank you

Try this onewww.motorholme.co.uk/motorhomes/southE4.htm
My brother has a motorhome and hires it out through this agency. They will be able to tell you if you need to bring your own bedding etc. Modern 'vans have all mod cons like shower/loo/heating/cooker but not all have microwaves as they need electric hook-up to work.

If you are going on a basic site, check and see if it has electricity available. If it's your first trip, I would recommend somewhere that you can walk from to a village or other focal point so you can stroll out with DCs in the evening with torches - excellent fun!

Go for it! We have 6 DCs and have motor homed all over UK and Europe. It is brilliant and really liberating. We are coming into Wimbledon Common next Sunday to do the London thing before heading off to the Peak District - another very happy haunt.

If you need any other info, I am only too willing to help.
