We have at long last decided to buy a camper van woooh! We have 2 dd's 10 and 1 and want something fairly compact,no bathroom needed.
We obviously like the vw's but what others are a good buy.It will be 2nd hand of course and we'd like a diesal. Any suggestions?

Have a look at a Mazda Bongo.

We have a Bongo and love it. It's pretty old (1996) but they are mostly really high spec; air con, electric blinds, electric raising roof etc. Ours is uncoverted, but the seats fold down into a bed, and the benefit of that is that you can use it as an 8-seater mpv, or fold up the rear seats, chuck bikes in go out for the day.

They are all imported from Japan (so they're right-hand drive) and so there aren't as many of them as VWs. The newer ones I think are far more economical than the older ones. We have a 4WD version in diesel which does only about 25 to the gallon. Have a look at some for sale on Ebay and see what you fancy. Honestly, its so useful - we often go out for a picnic in it in the winter, as the middle seats fold down into a table, and you can all sit around it, warm and cosy watching people go by through your tinted windows Grin.
