What map shall I use for France?

Obviously one that has France on it Wink

But which ones are best?

I have sat nav but don't really trust it so my grandad is going to plan me a route.

I use a combination of sat nav, mappy print outs and ao outdated AA map of France...map is 2007 so maybe I ought to get a new one.

We have lots of Michelin maps for different areas of France but they are incredibly expensive. If you plan to tour through several regions it can cost a fortune.

On our last trip we bought a road atlas for about £7. It's also easier to manage in the car because it's only A4ish size, rather than having to open a whole map out.

And for route planning I use google maps.

www.viamichelin.com/

excellent

Thanks for the replies.

The road atlas sounds good.

Where can I get one from?

Think I will take map, sat nav, online route and route plotted by my grandad. Will probably still get lost Grin

Bring someone to read the map and give directions. It should be someone you want to fall out with and never speak to again and if a husband, one you want to divorce.

Where can I get one from?

Waterstones, WH Smith - any book shop.

Quenelle · 22/02/2012 15:53

Also try Wilkinsons. I bought a UK road atlas from there once for £3.

Oh, and I didn't say I never get lost Smile

We use a combination of the yellow Michelin map book plus SatNav. If you want to get hardcore then add the Michelin red book for France. If there is a street plan in the red book then there will be a red box round the town in the yellow book.

Apologies, I got carried away there, but I do like planning a holiday!

jamaisjedors · 25/02/2012 08:41

We use our satnav and mappy.com to plan beforehand for long journeys. We have a basic atlas bought here (France) too just in case.
