Do you use the living space in your tent for living in?

We don't. If it's pouring with rain we go to a cafe to eat, or go somewhere indoors for an outing. But when the weather is fine we sit outside, even wearing 4 layers of fleece, round the fire until it is time for bed. We never set up the table inside the tent. We drag stuff in at night to store it, but that's it. I suppose if we were on an extended wet camping week we would put the table in the tent and make sandwiches and read and stuff. I wouldn't cook in the tent.
What do you do in the living area?

We put the kids to bed in our various family tents and then have some adult time around the fire. DS reads in his sleeping bag, with his Tiny Light.

If we ever replace our tent, I would go for 'as small as is practical' rather then 'the bigger the better'. There are some woodland sites where you can't pitch in the woods with anything big - Welsummer, for e.g.

I went to River Dart a few years ago and it was lovely. But it was sunny all week and dd spent the week in the adventure playground and the lake. Its the only time I've camped and the weatehr's been good. I suspect if the weather had been crap I'd have been annoyed that we'd spent so much money and not really been able to use the facilities.

Blu when we were kids we were that family. The truth was Dad loved camping but Mum hated it. So we had a trailer tent which was as close to a house as Mum could ask for and in the evenings we were well and truly indoors in the "living room" I think if she could have had a TV she would have!

I used to sit outside watching the tv in the caravan opposite on holiday last summerBlush

I'm not a fan of soaps but they are improved with a distant view and a distinct lack of soundGrin
