Camping in Holland

Mummyisamonster · 19/02/2012 12:00

We're thinking about camping in Holland this summer. (We've got all our own gear so we wouldn't be looking at keycamp or similar).

Has anyone got any recommendations for campsites, or any general tips/comments about camping in holland?

Many thanks!

We stayed in a brilliant one last summer - Camping de Roos near Ommen. www.camping-de-Roos.nl
It's in a nature reserve - very pretty, quiet, laid-back place. You can swim in the river or there's a kids' swimming lake. Little shop and cafe on site. Really lovely place. I found it in the Cool Camping Europe book, which recommends several very nice looking places.

camping de paal (depaal.nl) is an absolutely amazing dutch site for families. I have never stayed anywhere better. Facilities fantastic, lovely setting. Amazing play facilities. We ere there a few years back and had a great time. The website is in dutch but they speak excellent english if you call / email.

Witterzomer is brilliant for families. Good facilities, lots of things for kids on the camping and also nearby, like Verkeerspark Assen, Astronomy evenings with barbecue (kids can also look through the telescopes), beautiful area to go cycling etc etc Would highly recommend them.
