I want to take the dc's to Edinburgh this summer (castle, zoo, etc). I'm looking for a static caravan / campsite to stay at. Does anyone know anywhere - possibly in a nice area? (I would rather a static caravan but I do have a humungous tent if desperate). I may do the Haven Seton Sands thing and get a caravan. I always Google map these things and didn't feel as if Seton Sands looked that scenic and I do like my scenic holidays. It would only be a base with the added extra of a pool for rainy CBA days. My pil say that North Berwick is nice - any inspiration would be fab! :)

We stayed at Lauder campsite last year and it was lovely - clean, well-kept and very helpful staff. It's about a 20 min bus ride to Edinburgh. No pool though, but there's a stream kids could play in at one end.

Mortonhall is good. Close(ish) to bus numbers 11, 18, 7, 37, 47, 67 most of which take you to town, but also to other places. No pool or anything but on a country estate with lots of space for walks etc.

Nice site in Aberlady with both statics and tents. never stayed there but looked clean, small and few families there...close to lovely beach too.
Dunbar Belhaven campsite (my favourite) has a lovely site has a wee lake with swans & ducks.. its close to the beach, and really spotless clean...we stayed for a weekend , kids loved it. Run by a really helpful couple.
The lauder one attheendoftheday mentioned is equally as good we stayed there too. Lovely river running through the site, spotless clean and well run.
Only a bit further away from Edinburgh than some of the others mentioned.
Seton Sands is much much busier than the others but Ive never stayed there
sorry Im rubbish at doing links..
hope the sunshines for you

Hello. We camped at Tantallon Park in North Berwick last summer. It was lovely - clean facilities, view of Bass Rock over the sea and good sized pitches. They have static vans, too. North Berwick is beautiful and Edinburgh is about 30mins drive. My sis lives in Edinburgh so we often drove to her then bussed from there but we drove to the Zoo and Ocean Terminal for Britannia. It was the best of both worlds - beach plus city. We were there 2 and a half weeks, the weather was typical and mixed but it was a fantastic holiday.
