Hello,

We normally go camping in Western France (Vendee, etc) but would like a change and are thinking of heading East. Initially thought of Annecy area although now I am thinking is it a long drive with 2 small children (5, 2yo)? Maybe it won't be too bad....

Anyway, neither of us have been to Eastern France before and was wondering if there was any other areas that people would recommend for camping in Eastern France? Not too bothered where tbh - would just like a fairly quiet campsite where the kids can play safely and near some nice views, a pool would be nice but not essential. Ideally would like a mixture of nationalities, so not really Eurocamp, etc. We did go to one last year (with our own tent) and it was lovely, but there were very few nationalities there.

Sorry for being so vague - I just don't know this side of France at all - we'd be going in August, due to school hols. Thanks for any advice!

We are off to le fayolan in the Jura region this August.

First time so can't tell you much about it but it looks beautiful.

It's roughly the same distance from Calais as the vendee.
