Present ideas

DS1 turns 4 in a few weeks and we are completely out of ideas as to what to get him. He has all the usual suspects (bike etc) and we just can't think of anything.

We are planning on buying our first family tent in a month or so and I was wondering if there was anything we could get for him which ties in with that. I thought of a sleeping bag, but that isn't very exciting and seems a bit mean for a 4 yo's present.

Any ideas or is it really a non starter?

Not sure if it's much more exciting than a sleeping bag but you could get a Ready Bed instead - Argos have superman, Cars, Thomas branded ones.

Or maybe one of those animal camping chairs e.g. www.gooutdoors.co.uk/hi-gear-animal-camping-chair-p142393

Also smaller present is one of those wind up animal torches.

You could get him his own little pop up tent. He can pitch it in the garden to play in . When you go camping he could have it next to the main tent as his den. Useful for storing toys in etc that would otherwise clutter the main tent.

Our kids got sleeping bags for Christmas last year and seemed happy enough. Agree a camping chair might be a good idea, or how about a Trunki?

A head torch, perfect for late night dash to the toilets.

Snazzy wellies / crocs. Very useful whilst camping.

Ref: Sleeping bags they were from Regatta I think. We decided good quality and warmth was more important than having a cool cartoon character on. The ones we have for DD (6) and DS (4) are similar to this one from Argos.

Not a main present obv , but at that age my DD loved a head torch . Makes going to the toilet block very excting Wink

Outwell do some tents with ' childrens room Inners ' if you are buying a new tent.

We just bought one of these playdens for DD's 5th birthday so she can do a little make believe camping herself. It's brilliantly simple and I would have loved one when I was little! Also plan to take it with us camping. It may even act as a sun shade if we ever get any soddin' sun
