Have just had my confirmation through for our long camping trip next august. 17 nights at camping guyonniere in the vendee on the same pitch as this august.

Already have 7 nights in a safari tent at la garengoire for may half term booked as well as 3 uk weekends.
Can't wait. Has anyone else booked their summer trips yet?

hiya - just spent the night googling vendee sites. planning first trip to france next year. very excited. what age are your kids? we've been thinking about guyonniere, but also camping bel and du letty (brittany). what was weather like this year for you?

questions, questions Grin....

Ds is 9 & dd is 7. It was brilliant as I felt safe in letting them go off riding their bikes & go to the play areas on their own. Only really had to accompany them to the pools.

We went last 2 weeks in august. Had a huge thunderstorm day of arrival (25 mins after putting tent up) then cloud for a couple if days. After that it was wall to wall sunshine and about 30 degrees when we left.

Any other questions just ask.

We are looking at the same place for 2 weeks next august.

Have only ever booked with keycamp before but will be taking our own tent next year.

How do you pay deposit/final balance?

Have you booked your crossing yet?

Thanks for any responses.

Deposit payed by credit card with online booking through their site. They took about 200 euro with 600 balance due on arrival.
Cost 800ish euro for 17 nights. 2 adults, 2 children, electric & hire of a full size fridge, on one of their large pitches on la pointe.

Crossing wise we have booked eurotunnel with tesco vouchers so effectively free.

Thanks nikki Smile

what dates are you going?

I am looking around to go around the 10th depending on annual leave from work.

Nikkid21 · 02/12/2011 18:49

We are there from the 16th until 2nd September.

The last week there will be no entertainment or kids clubs as the Dutch are back at school. The site emptied out around the 25th august - was lovelyGrin

Our crossing (Dover - Dunkirk) for next August is £68 return, including our caravan! Booked through Caravan Club website - worth the joining fee for the saving on crossings and sites x

We've booked our crossing, overnight Portsmouth - Caen, early next June. Just have to decide where to go from there.

hello - just wanting to pick your brain as after dithering for a while have now managed to narrow down to few campsites on vendee - La Guyonniere being one of them. We have a fully fledged teenager with us - does this campsite cater for early teens (13)? Also prob going to take our own tent but have noticed they have the safari type tent on website. Problem is that I can look at most of website but when i try to check availability/prices/booking page it wont open - is it me? or is there a problem with the website?

other sites looking at are one called domaine la foret (i think), garangeoire and les ecureils at st.hilaire - any thoughts on those welcome too. thanks. K

hello again - have managed to sort out issue with la guyonniere website - it was me Blush

i think we are going to book it - can you tell me which pitch i should go for if i want to go on the tents only field? is this the best field to go for? can i pick a pitch?

also - just one niggle- are toilets/showers unisex? this could make or break the deal for my oldest - who is not keen on walking into showers full of hairy middle aged men (i can vaguely remember being a teenager and do sympathise with her).

thanks again. Katie

Early teen would be ok, there were a few teenagers there to hang out with. No specific entertainment, clubs or abilities for that age group though.

Pitch wise those on la pointe and la tournesol are nice. We are on pitch 102 in the top left of la pointe. The pitches on the left get sun in the morning, right get sun in the evening.

Showers / toilets on la pointe are unisex. They are all individual cubicles that open out into a hedged off area. Everyone just walks over and uses whichever cubicle is free. It's fine although I don't particularly like walking across the field with a roll of loo roll.
