Help - what should I take with us focamping at a family friendly festival?

Just got tickets for this galtresfestival.org.uk/index.cfm this weekend with DH and DS who is 19mo, am prob mad as not been camping for about 3 years and never with DS BUT am v excited.... And the levellers are playing and I used to LOVE them when I was about 13 and wore dms at all times with tie dyed dungarees...... Anyway - what do you highly recommend I take???

Lots and lots of jumpers. Coats. Hats. Gloves. Blankets. We were camping last weekend and it was bloody freezing come 9pm.

We a had fire pit, that kept us warm.

Bog roll

Festival toilets can be grim

As your DS is so little, perhaps (depending on his eating habits) something easy you know he'll eat for his breakfast. Although having clicked on the link, the food available looks lush, we found until this year (finally! she's now 6) DD refused everything but sausage in a bun in the way of festival food, so we always had to bring breakfast stuff and fruit with us to prevent scurvy/starvation.

Otherwise yy to warm clothes, layers, a good sleeping bag/duvet and all the cleaning stuff (plus dry shampoo/something to cover your hair if it gets too horrible if necessary). We were camping last weekend and were just right, but we were in unseasonally sunny Kent, about the only part of the country that had no rain!

Hey I was wondering whether anyone else on here was going to Galtres, we will be there too, me, boyfriend, 5 month old and our bell tent!

We haven't managed to get tickets for the family camping field and hoping that our little one doesnt keep everyone up in the main field, otherwise we'll be the most hated campers there!

We will be taking lots and lots of blankets and solar powered fairy lights!

Best stuff I took to Camp Bestival - full bedding stuff, no lightweight packing there. I am Mrs Cold when camping, so really needed my fleece sleeping bag liner. Wide selection of lighting options (lantern for me and my friend to sit and chat by, one headtorch hung in the sleeping pod as a nightlight for DD, another headtorch for me to get to the loo). Travel Johns. Lots of wipes, tissues and loo roll. Water bottle to fill up at all possible opportunities. Snacks to avoid paying a fortune/queueing/sitting down on blanket to watch band only to have to get up again to buy snacks. Bucket - bit more civilised to spit toothpaste in a bucket than on the ground, plus I used it to wash my hair over (with fresh water, not the toothpaste water ...)

Have a churro for me, I never got round to having any at CB. :(

jealous of your bell tent + fairy lights though , we've just got a cheapy easy camp thing from years ago - slightly concerned that it might be a bit big to be called standard though, not massive jus a 4man with a living area bit and we got out tickets from a friend who couldn't go in the end and they got family standard sized tent.....anyway sure will all be fine!!!!

Don't think you'll need to worry about you lo keeping people up - have u been before??

we've not but friend has and said its super chilled with a village fete vibe..... Shall keep an eye out for a lovely bell tent :Y

I know we were a bit confused by the camping tickets as well, and we have to run around looking for a steward to stamp our tent otherwise "it will be removed"! Have images of all these tents being taken away and put in the naughty corner.

We haven't been before but heard similar to you that it has a really chilled out vibe and very family orientated.

Absolutely if you see a bell tent and two frazzled people with a 5 month old boy that will be us, come say hi! Starting to worry about the weather though, woke up this morning to see rain rain rain, I think we're just praying that its not raining while we get the tent up, keep fingers crossed!

I know forecast has completely changed over night to heavy rain all tomorrow - eek! Ah well will have cagoules and wellies at the ready!

Will keep an eye out for you and your lovely tent :) we'll be the couple threatening to get divorced over putting a tent up at the same time as DS is having a massive tantrum hehe!
