Nice site for base for going into London

Hi, can anyone recommend a nice site in the South East please. We would like to be able to go into London to do a bit of sightseeing whilst we are down south, as well as visiting family who are in Surrey.

We like the quieter sort of sites, not really the ones with pubs/ take-aways etc on site.

i want to do a low cost weekend with dh and kids in london, just to do free stuff there...walk, sights, museums etc..

can't find a hotel with 5 to a room, so had ruled it out...hadn't thought about camping! [excited!]

The wardens are friendly and helpful and everything is clean. The only downside is that the area it is in is quite rough, but it is close to the mainline train station.

Brilliant, thanks for those 2, I like the look of Abbeywood. Any other suggestions.. maybe out in the country a bit more but near a train line into London?

\link{http://www.hurleyriversidepark.co.uk/\Hurley} stayed here about 18mths ago and going again at the end of September. It is about 5/10 mins from Henley which has a train station. We went into Kew from Windsor when we stayed there. There will be a train station at Maidenhead or Slough which are not too far either. Marlow is up the road but not sure if it has a train station or not.

Lots of Kent / Sussex sites on this list would have good train links to London. Forgewood is a lovely site, camping in the woods, etc, and very close to a station.

North of london in countryside but v short drive to Tring station is this, also allows fires..

no trampoline as per website as they are building a climbing frame thing which shoudl be finished in the next week or so..

Another vote for Abbeywood from me. It is a fantastic site. My lot nicknamed it Happywood.

Wowo is near Haywards Heath.

What about that one in Epping Forest? I'll have to go look up the name. I haven't been there but heard it's lovely and sounds like might even be close to the tube line.

Debden House is the one in Epping.

Also, how about Mellow Farm nr Farnham in Surrey?

There is Triftwood at wrotham in kent, 45 mins ish into town xxx

Debden House is a good 30 min walk from the tube station or else 20 mins walk/2 min bus ride.

But it is rather lovely and you can have campfires.

For the all those recommended on here, do any have a no noise policy after a certain time? Thanks

Sorry Ranty, I meant the other sites, have been to Abbeywood in a caravan and yes it was quiet.

No good for the OP as its north London, but thought I'd add it on for the others interested.

High Clere Farm. We stayed there last weekend for Take that at Wembley. Really easy transport links from a station about a mile up the road, direct train to Wembley (20 mins) or into central london (25 mins)

Town farm has a no noise after 11pm and even though there were a couple of large groups.. the farmer put them at the ends on the approx L shaped fields (if that makes sense) and we were not disturbed at all... he did a couple of drive throughs as well checking everyone ok....in a very friendly way
