so I am fed up with the rest of MN (this whole mamazon shite really is the ,last straw), so I am assuming that if any of you are trolling you are showing extraordinary persistence by delving into the thrills of iceytec and are worth chatting to.

So anyway, hi, I am SeaShells, I have 2 dc and have been camping and trapsing through the Great Outdoors all my life. I hang out here as my love of camping is more a love of the countryside and life, and you lot have a similar outlook.

No, that's the headfuck isn't it? Everyone says you will be fine, but no one can guarantee that outcome.

notwavingjustironing · 17/07/2011 22:28

My consultant is quite annoying too. The last actual appointment I had with her we both agreed I was fine , she left me to contact her if I felt worse, then rang me a week later to say that she had taken a second opinion and that I should have another scan. Whereupon they found something that hadn't even been discussed before Sad

SeaShellsMyDogSmells · 17/07/2011 22:40

At least she had the guts to ask for a second opinion :) see this week through then ask for someone else if your still not happy. I've got to gonto bed, but from my experience you need to trust your consultant-I've got a lot of clinical experience so could see through the bluffing but I was lucky :)

notwavingjustironing · 17/07/2011 22:42

Yes you're right. Thanks for your support. X

Funtimewincies · 18/07/2011 09:36

Notwaving - I think that I'd much rather someone who came back and said 'actually, I've been thinking...' than a consultant who didn't believe that he/she could have made a mistake, iyswim. Sorry to hear that you've not been well.

Good luck seashells.

Top friend scaryt!

Slubberdegullion · 18/07/2011 10:06

Morning

Blimey, this thread moves so fast I almost regret going camping as keep miss out on essential camping chat.

ime drs that are open about not knowing everything and are happy to ask for other opinions are the ones to trust.

glitter how was the icey-tek? Were things kept cold? Were you happy with the redness of it? did people come over and admire? I had 3 icey tek, 5 Cobb, 1 tarp and three Labrador admirers this weekend. [proud]

Lost will be well on her way now

Slubberdegullion · 18/07/2011 10:08

yy, remember the Everest spirit SeaShells

Scary that is AMAZING. Wow, all that kit on lend. Lucky you.

notwavingjustironing · 18/07/2011 10:36

Sorry everyone for bringing the jolly tone of the thread down. I think the use of the word "annoying" to describe my consultant was inappropriate. I think what I meant was that it was annoying to me that I thought everything was ok (and to be honest it probably will be won't it?) and then a little bit of doubt crept in. You're all very right - at least she's exploring the situation fully and is actually really lovely.

Anyhoo, enough about my insides. Lets talk about tents and that.

Slubber, Icytek, labrador, Cobb AND tarp compliments!! That could turn a girl's head. Did you not try to turn the conversation around to Campingaz Bivouaks for the full house?

Was the weather as appalling in wherever you were as bad as where we were (ie v appalling?)

Funtimewincies · 18/07/2011 11:06

Wow, between notwaving's insides and Seashells's unmentionables it's getting proper gritty !

I fear, though, that even my ludicrously large camping first-aid box may not be able to help the death socks Grin.

MisSalLaneous · 18/07/2011 11:17

Hope your birthday was lovely, Reshape.

Just caught up with rest of news - busy weekend!

Hope smear was over quickly and that you're currently sat somewhere with a rich chocolate cake and a latte in the compulsory after-stressful-event-coffee-shop.

Slubberdegullion · 18/07/2011 11:20

notwaving I was on the very cusp of doing the full reveal of the bivouac and brewing up some coffee smells to go with the Cobb-bacon smells, but as we were camping with friends with a caravan and a camper van there was a steady flow of hot beverages that made the bivouac redundant.

Still I looked the MOST camper-like with wellies(death socks underneath), raincoat, hat etc sat under tarp making bacon butties. We were almost wild camping. Only a portaloo spoilt it.

Weather was great on Saturday, bit wet on Sunday but had stuff all packed up before the serious rain started.

Funtime, you jest but I do have latex gloves in my first aid box. No speculum though.

SeaShellsMyDogSmells · 18/07/2011 11:57

Grin hurrah, that's that over. I think nurses have a well feelings sense if the absurd. I had to laugh at the very englishness if discussing the weather whilst in that position Hmm

Notwaving-funtime is right-thinking and discussing is good, not knowing and not asking, or believing your are right everytime is baaaad.

Slubber-most impressed with level of interest! A Cobb is alway food for that (they just don't see them around, bless)

Slubberdegullion · 18/07/2011 12:11

oops, missed birthday wishes to Reahape.
belated birthday good wishes Reshape.

SeaShells, hahah yes I love that, forced casual conversation while someone is peering up your fanny.
Cobb does bring folk flocking. I like to pick it up and move it about while the coals are all aglow to demonstrate its portability whilst roasting hot. The moat also makes folk go 'ooooh'.

Sal, have you not got some impressive waterproofs?

Slubberdegullion · 18/07/2011 12:12

I just hoovered and damp dusted my pop ups.

notwavingjustironing · 18/07/2011 12:30

in my sandals and death socks

Funtimewincies · 18/07/2011 12:34

MisSalLaneous · 18/07/2011 13:19

Wellll, I've got decent enough winter waterproofs, but haven't bought a summery raincoat after my last wardrobe cull. I've never done a proper clearout before, so kind of imagined the remaining clothes would put their heads sleeves together, out of thanks to have survived, you know, and magic me a new one. But no. Bloody clothes. Anyway, so when I had to grab a coat on the way out, I realised it's either my knee length arctic one, or, well nothing. Should have gone for arctic, in retrospect.

For future reference, positive thinking is also overrated. Yes indeedy, breezy linen drawstring pants, white summer shirt, flip flops, and still not showing enough positive-thinking-dedication. I did admit defeat and bought the world's most expensive bin bag poncho. I was the height of sophistication in my bright orange see-through+linen-ensamble. Hmm, I feel like I need Excel to create a shortcut for my last sentence... Should shut up now.

Short answer - nope, I seriously need to check where I live and adjust wardrobe accordingly.

Slubberdegullion · 18/07/2011 13:36

That sounds terrible Muriel.

Linen trews at an airshow? in July? what were you thinking?

notwavingjustironing · 18/07/2011 13:41

Sal, you sound traumatised! Grin

And you a seasoned Outdoor Type too...

To add insult to injury, do you actually like Airshows, or were you there being supportive to someone who does?

Slubberdegullion · 18/07/2011 13:46

It's a bit of a shock isn't it notwaving. She of the Kelly Kettle and axe talk goes to an airshow dressed, it would seem, as if she was going to a drinks and canapés in Los Angeles.

Slubberdegullion · 18/07/2011 13:48

I love how my iPad puts the accent into canapés for me.

fancy

notwavingjustironing · 18/07/2011 13:51

It's like Bear Grylls turning up for kayaking down the Amazon, dressed in a zip up cardie and sensible slippers......

MisSalLaneous · 18/07/2011 14:10

I had a witty reply, but MN said "no" when I tried to post. You'll have to trust me on that. Wink

MisSalLaneous · 18/07/2011 14:11

You two make me laugh. At my computer. In the middle of the day. Not helping to dispel the rumours of my slipping grip...

MisSalLaneous · 18/07/2011 14:26

Oh, it's not that I don't like them - I kind of do, can appreciate the skill of the performances, the design and power of the aircraft etc - it's just that I'm not that fussed, so when soaking wet, the idea of a warm pub somewhere was incredibly tempting. If I were on my own, I'd have gone for a glass of wine instead! Glad we didn't though, the Red Arrows and the Italian acrobatics team were amazing. I also got points for being a Good Sport - always comes in handy later...
