Looking at ordering a bell tent but they don't deliver to the uk. Their tarps and inbred are much cheaper too.

I've bought a bell tent there. We drove over to see and buy in person. Amazing store (huge!). It's far though - close to German side. The tents are exactly the same as those sold by Belltent UK, so the quality is good.

i got a their TC tarp online. took about ten days to come from ordering. tarp much cheaper than the suspiciously similar looking awning for sale at belltent.co.uk

Sal, the saving is really significant, (over £150 all in) I'm trying to get the logistics sorted.

Tycaca- that's interesting, I've ot my suspicions on the tarp front too (£100+ at soul pad, 55euros at obe)

Haha SeaShells, I was a bit concerned about your plans to source inbreds from Holland, but reckoned it's not my place to comment...

If you're willing to go all the way there (which I do recommend, but it is far, so no getting around that), try and get there early. It's huge and ideally you want lots of time for browsing. If I go again, I would consider sleeping over close by (in b&b or small pop-up if saving camping-stuff-fund). On top of the saving - which is substantial, as you say - it was extremely useful to see all the different tents "in person" before buying.

After reading about Sals adventures in Obelink I managed to convince DH that we really needed to go there and get out bell tent.

Agree with everything Sals said, try and stay over for more than 1 night if you can, wish we did, really, really lovely friendly people, Obelink is like a cross between Ikea for outdoorsy stuff and decathlon e-n-o-r-m-o-u-s!! You'll need a full day there!

Oh and the tarp is the same apparently BIL has one from belltent and obelink - the same.

Well, obelink is significant,y cheaper if I can get the shipping cheap, but of the uk suppliers, soul pad are much cheaper and have free shipping compared to bell tent uk (which also get poor customer service reviews here)

Dh is still saying no not yet (apparently we "have no money as you are on maternity pay" or whatever) but he does love them!

Definitely, so far 2 friends have bought one after seeing ours, BIL did on recomendation (bastard even got his beofre i got mine ) and I reckon another 2 friends will be getting one before next season.

Maybe we shoudl go over and buy a load then flog them at a profit to us but cheaper than belltent!!!

Don't be ashamed of the bunting Sal, I'm in the process of making some exactly the same (well, I have all the material for bunting and a patchwork quilt rainbow fornthe dc but keep getting distracted!) it looks lovely!

Hi all. Just to say in case you don't already know, Belltent are Obelink's UK suppliers effectively. They have some sort of exclusivity contract with Obelink so that Obelink won't sell directly to the UK. (Obelink told me this when I bought our tent but at that stage, a couple of years ago, they would still send you the tent provided you could negotiate the ordering system in Dutch - not the case any more I understand). So the tents are identical. But the restriction only applies to products Belltent sell.

Not sure about Soulpad but I don't think the same applies.

So if you can, definitely worth a trip to Holland to save money for the identical tent/tarp (travel costs allowing, of course).
