Does anyone use camp beds?

you know, the canvas ones with the metal legs. Are they comfy? Are you warmer cos you're off the ground?

We have used them for the DC's in the past, but this year we asked if they preferred camp beds or air beds and they opted for the air beds.

We use roll mats under the air beds to help insulate them. I have slept on a camp bed as an adult and I must say I found it uncomfortable, but I am a size 16 so I don't think that helps!

Have heard of people using SIM's on airbeds with good results.

Happy Camping! Smile

Hmm, think I'll try the roll mat thing thanks! Have to say the stretched canvas doesn't look very soft and comfy!

Hello! Not a camping expert, but when I was in the military I always found I was colder on a camp bed than on the ground with a roll mat, sleeping bag and a sleeping bag cover. If you are camping with ground sheets, then an airbed, roll mat and decent sleeping bag should keep you warm.

I use a camp bed and have got some for the DCs this year as they always wanted my bed Grin

I put a picnic blanket under my sleeping bag, then a duvet and loads of pillows

I couldnt get used to air beds or mats, I would roll over onto the ground

So my camp bed is my bit of home from home

We use camp beds too. I have to say I find them really comfortable - much better than roll mats which I detest. Never tried SIMs though... I didn't ahve a problem with not being warm enough but it was really warm when we went away.

Have read a number of reviews about crap beds that have ridges that stick into you so I would say its worth buying these where you can try them out (so not online) if you decide to go for camp beds

We just use airbeds, camp beds gives beds would mean even more kit for the family holiday. Have gone off cheap dome tents after we broke a number of poles whilst away in Devon the year Boscastle was flooded.
