BLACK MOULD in my CAMPERVAN

we are supposed to be camping tomorrow. am doing a spring clean of the van. the food/ utensil cupboard obv got damp over the winter and is covered in spots of black mould. i've scrubbed it with bleach based mould spray but obv am still v concerned about it being our FOOD cupboard.

since doing the clean, i've googled black mould and found out that it can be really toxic. am worried now that even if we seal off the bleached out cupboard and dont use it, that maybe there could be air borne spores which could make it unsafe to sleep in there...

so any advice on
a) me exposing myself to mould when cleaning b) sleeping in the van
c) distingusihing between toxic/ less toxic moulds
d) treating/ painting/ lining the cupboard so that one day it could be used again

Mmmmmm, I personally wouldn't worry too much. But then I spent 2 years on mouldy student digs and am still here to tell the tale.

Maybe get a big plastic box to keep your food in inside the cupboard. But I think it would be fine even without doing that.

I'd be more worried about how your campervan is getting damp - that needs sorting. Mine is as dry as bone even in the cupboards.

thanks. it is strange. just the food cupboard is damp. and only this year. not at all in the previous 2 yearssince we've had it. it is odd. even the tea bags in the tupperware tub got mouldy Shock

Did you put your fridge vent covers on?

Ah, well you need to get some. That could well account for the damp in the van. I always put my vent covers on over the winter.
