Me, on my own, and FIVE kids going camping at a festival. Is it possible?

I love the Sunrise Gathering and go every year with dh and our four kids. It's brilliant. We always have a really great time BUT it's very hard work at the begining and end getting the camp set up then packing it all down again. It's normally a fair old schlepp from the carpark to the campsite. Also, to keep costs down, we bring a lot of our own food and cooker, pans etc so they've heavy.

Anyway I love this festival and I would hate to miss it but dh is away this year and I really don't know if I can do it alone.

The stress of it is weighing down on me every day because I've left it so late to make a decision. (it's in 2 weeks)

I know two couples who are going and we'd plan to camp together. They only have one child between them.

Has anyone done anything similar or have any thoughts?

Can you take a friend with you.
i am not camping at my fav festival cos i can't face it with 3 kids we are goign to go for the day as it is quite local.
swallow the expense and eat on site?

Raindrop I reckon we could eat far more on site. Maybe I could leave behind all the pans and plates and jsut take finger food and buy meals there. I have to be able to make lots of cups of tea and coffee though.

Is there a large yet light tent which is easy to put up and light to carry. Maybe I could just bring one tent for 6 people. What are these like to carry and put up?

Are they light? Double-skinned?

yes very light and double skinned, you just need to practice puttign them up and down .
