haling island...

anyone camped here? its a toss up between haling island and isle of wight.

is there much to do on the island? is there good transport to portsmouth/other things to do? i wont have a car

I lived on Hayling for years and would personally go to the Isle of Wight given the choice. If you do go to Hayling you go over a bridge to get on and off or there is a foot ferry over to Portsmouth, but the ferry llands at the far end furthest from the dockyard where the old ships are/Gunwharf shops etc, so you'd have to get over to that end(no idea what the buses are like). You'd have much more choice of sites on the IOW-the one I know of on Hayling I don't think I'd choose personally. Other than the beach there are no tourist attractions on Hayling. Loads more to do on IOW and lots more choice of sites (and feels like more of a holiday as you get the ferry over there!)
