Can anyone recommend a good family friendly campsite in Brittany please?

Looking for a nice (cheap as possible) break in the August holidays with a just turned 5 year old boy and an about to turn 3 year old boy.

Basically want something near the beach, and with or within spitting distance of stuff that will keep the kids entertained (ie swimming pools, rocks, caves, clowns, swings etc)

Cost is a big factor as if we can't do this on the cheap we're not doing it at all, and also the ferry to Brittany is likely to be fairly steep.

Am wondering if this will be cheaper/less hectic than camping in Cornwall for two weeks? Or whether it's still (ridiculously) cheaper to all get a package deal? Any thoughts? Grin

Should add we're looking at taking our own tent to keep costs down, rather than doing anything like Siblu or Eurocamp...

Try here.

It's wonderfully friendly, we loved it.

municpal campsites will be alot cheaper. they often give a discount or include the municipal swimming pool. alan rogers is fairly comprehensive on french campsites.

Mummy - thanks for that link, it looks beautiful! Definitely a contender and about £13 per night cheaper than the one I was looking at in Cornwall...

BelovedCunt (your name has made me Grin ) thanks for the reminder, will look into those...It's already looking cheaper than Cornwall, if we can offset the ferry...

Some peopel we met had travelled to Caen and this worked out cheaper (we travelled overnight to Cherbourgh - very expensive but had a comfy night's sleep).

If you collect Tesco clubcard voucers you can use the Eurotunnel.

Check the Camping & Caravan Club for their best rates re; ferry fares.

We have stayed at this campsite a couple of times and would recommend it for a low key holiday:

It is within walking distance of the town of Carnac.

camping de la baie near carnac is fanatstic.
