3 nights, only a cool box and ice packs.

We wanted to have a bbq on the 3rd night, but im worried that if i take nice burgers from the butchers and freeze them abd even if they defrost in the cool box, after 3 days they wont be ok?? or will they be?

and sausages?

and how long does an ice pack last for? ive got a super cool box that suposably keeps things cool for 13 hours with NO ice pack...

2 nights meal is something defrosting in the cool box, so hoping that might help too... and if i freeze 1 pints of milk?

Could you not get ice packs from the campsite to keep topping up? Personally we would nip to the butchers and buy fresh.

apparently the campsite is not near anything. mind you. it might just be worth a quick trip out in the car. actually hadnt thought of that at all.

well done!

campsites normally have a freezer on site that you can re-freeze blocks in

or just go and buy something on day 3

Freeze 1 litre bottles of water, place in coolbox - ours last 2 nights, keep ccolbox covered with damp towel.

meal for 3rd night - before you go away, cook some pasta and sauce, add chopped cooked sausages (we use Linda Mccartney veggie ones) then freeze.Put in coolbox just before yo leave. By 3rd day will slowly defrost. Have it with salad and hummous which stays cool in the coolbox (the frozen water and the frozen pasta keeps all chilled stuff lovely and cold)

I do this all the time and im in USA so it gets wicked hot here in the summer,Ive never had a problem. I freeze plastic bottles of water and line the bottom of the cooler. I freeze all the meat in either vacuum sealed bags or if you dont have those then those ziploc freezer bags, just squeeze as much air out as you can.Put the frozen meat on top of the frozen water bottles and either pour in a bag of ice or put more frozen water bottles in. cover with a towel and keep the cooler lid closed only open if you really need to. Ive had meat stay cold for 5 days this way. There would be no problem doing your bbq on day 3
