getting into this camping lark - what do I need?

I'm a relatively newbie camper and have booked not one, not two, but three camping trips for this year! I'm very excited. Two weekends in June, and one week in the New Forest in August.
Anyway, you campers seem like a friendly bunch and pretty keen on your camping kit. What fabulous camping-related items can I persuade dh do I really need Grin to make the most of the camping experience?

What do you already have? Or are you starting from scratch?

Tent Grin

And do you want to be a bell-tenting bunter, a minimalist or a cram-everything-in-the-car-just-in-case?

Very important to to choose your path early doors. Otherwise, it could go horribly wrong...

For the record, I'm a crammer

the very best sleeping bag you can afford - do not scrimp here

Ok well, I have a tent Grin - thanks, jaffacake! It's a fairly basic four person tent with a sleeping bit at each end. We got it on special offer a few years back. Dh didn't want to get an expensive one yet, as he wasn't convinced I was a true convert to camping! It came with 4 sleeping bags - but I guess they are probably not very quality ones. They've been fine so far though. We have 2 of those thin camping air mattress thingies and 2 camp beds (although we just used the mattresses last time).
We also have a little camping cooker and a thing to put it on, which dh describes as a camping kitchen. We have some folding chairs. Dh says we need to get a folding table.
Essentially, I think he'll be keen on getting a better tent in a couple of years' time, but he said we could do with a few more bits of kit in the meantime. We're not feeling too rich at the moment, so I'm wondering what things would be useful/nice/make me feel like a proper camper, but not too pricey .
In answer to your question, notwavingjustironing, I guess I'd love to go go with the full-on luxury camping vibe (love the look of those teepees with luxurious cushions and throws and pretty lanterns Blush), but it all looks too expensive. There's no way I'm minimalist, so I guess I'd go with the chuck-it-all-in theory! I should point out that dh does do very minimalist, rough camping when with his mates, but he realises that's not going to cut any ice with me the family.
