A tardis tent Wink

Actually our tent does it fo us
a vango tigis

lifeistooshort · 15/05/2011 12:00

May I ask what you love so much about you tent Bronze ?

OP posts:
bronze · 15/05/2011 12:22

It has enough bed space (6 of us- 4 bedrooms) and isn't cramped as well as a decent size living area and good sized porch for the more outsidey stuff (keeping stove etc) but is simple to put up and isnt too fussy. I'm not really a glamper

FlingonTheValiant · 15/05/2011 13:46

I'd get this one, for us and DBIL, DSIL and DNs, and then eventually for us by ourselves once we're a bigger family.

vango infinity

Pretty much the same as bronze's, but the new pop up version.

FlingonTheValiant · 15/05/2011 13:58

In the meantime, I'm after this one for just us

here

Batteryhuman · 15/05/2011 14:12

this one but we are talking about £2,000,000 plus the need for a large barn to dry it out in when i get home.

Batteryhuman · 15/05/2011 14:13

£2,000 not £2,000,000. Expensive but not that much!

lifeistooshort · 15/05/2011 14:38

ah yes...the albatros....really lovely but I think it would be too small for the 5 of us (and too expensive!)

I am still completely undecided as to what might be our "best tent" canvas or not canvas...large with several pods or no pods...etc...

Hence the mini survey to see what people are lusting after

OP posts:
bronze · 15/05/2011 14:52

I like the tunnel tents with pods at the ends better than the ones coming off at all angles because they waste a lot of groundspace. The angles ones (technical na,me?) also have more outside surface so are colder

There was a time in our lives when money was no object. Sadly, this is now no longer the case. But when it wasn't, we bought this. It is wonderful. We use it all the time all the year round - it is the perfect tent. Apart from weighing quite a lot.......we have a selection of cheap and cheerful little tents for tiems whenwe actually ahve to carry them any distance.

lifeistooshort · 15/05/2011 15:19

I think I have a crush on these ones:

www.belltent.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=183

and this one

www.tortugatents.co.uk/product/tuareg/

No idea whether they would in fact be practical....but one can dream

The chances of ever owning a tuareg are probably nil though....unless I start playing the lottery

PrinceHumperdink do you really think they are worth the money? Also where did you buy your bell tent from? How big is it? How many of you are there and does it look like a complete mess inside or do you manage to keep it tidyish (assuming you have several children)

OP posts:
Needanewname · 15/05/2011 16:01

Ah but life they do a deluxe one now with SIG and thicker groundsheet!!

deluxe

THough I wouldn;t get it from belltent.co.uk, seeing as money is no object here I would go over to Obelink and buy from them!

The photos don;t do it justice, we saw one in Obelink last year (I wasn;t keen, thought they looked pretty ugly) and saw one there - absolutely gorgeous (can;t believe I'm talking about a tent here!)

I wonder if Obelink deliver in France? Might get SIL to receive it for me and reship

Needanewname · 15/05/2011 16:10

Pretty certain they do. I have heard lots of good things about SoulPad though.

A holtkamper trailer tent

Slubberdegullion · 15/05/2011 17:19

Ahhh, I see Batteryhuman has already linked to the De Waard Albatros Grin

As we are playing money no object I now also want a Mazda Bongo van with a trailer at the back to transport the pyramid.

Don't you all find that if you have a tent that is not 'the norm' that people come along and want to look in it or think you are weird?

We have a Bell tent from Soulpad and it has a fixed groundsheet and in almost every campsite people just stare at us and a couple of cheeky people actualy wanted to inspect the inside of it.

This was at night as well! Shock
