I've joined The Caravan Club

OMG - I feel old. I joined as we wanted to use their campsite in London later this month.

Seeing as I have a year's membership I figured I may as well use it at other times as well. Bloody hell, its taken me hours to find one of their campsites in The Peak District with space for this weekend. I'm always a last minute kind of person and obviously am going to be stumped when up against all the organised old gimmers. I'm going to have no hop in summer am I? Got booked into a CL finally though.

Their club magazine came yesterday, was full of leaflets for SAGA, BUPA and funeral plans. Grin

Are they going to hate me in my 25 year old camper van, young kid and big dog? I bet the net curtains will be twitching in the caravans when I roll up.

hahahaha @ the Saga ads.

Do you get a car sticker? I have one from the C&CC and display it proudly.

I joined Caravan Club last year but won't be rejoining - pensioners other customers block book the sites very early and we could never get on a site. I'm going to try the Camping and Caravan site this year to see if they are more inclusive.

I'm in the Camping and Caravan club as well and found it easier to get on their sites last year. I daren't try them again this year as they sent me a new membership card but I'd cancelled my direct debit so haven't actually paid. I suppose the small sites won't know that if I book direct with them though.

Caravan Club is fab for their CL's alone! They are miles cheaper than the commercial alternatives but have to say the full on club sites are just as expensive as the privately run ones.
Discounts on days out are not as good as they used to be though and their insurance was the most expensive quote we had.
We are going to try a rally (themed mountain biking event) soon.
