What do your young children sleep on?

Going camping end of the month. We are not avid campers, once a year at most. Last time dd1 was in a travel cot, but now she is nearly 4. Ready beds are really noisy. Is there any alternative bed type thing that she could use?

Our kids sleep on our old camping mats, i.e. just thin foam ones, and in sleeping bags. I figured if they complained they were uncomfortable they could have something else but they never have. If you are near a Go outdoors they have self inflating mats for under a tenner though.

Sleeping bags do also come in handy for sleepovers so worth getting one in any case. pretty cheap/nice & warm.

Fleece pyjamas will also keep children warm if you can find them at this time of year, ebay?

We use self inflating mats and sleeping bags. Put kids in vests, pjs and socks. They sleep really well so must be warm enough.

I always have blankets with us if needed too, but seldon use them.

I love camping as it is the only time I wake up before my ds!

Roll mat and sleeping bad, same as us grown ups Grin

Thinking of investing in some self inflating mats this year though.

Dc's are 6 & 8 - we use self inflating mats and then junior size sleeping bags. Also got a couple if fleece sleeping bags from primark this year than work as a liner.

Oh goodness, I hasn't even thought that we don't have a sleeping bag for her. Erm, what's the cheapest option?! We've got some camping mats. Not sure how we are going to fit the four of us in now (was just DD1 last time.

I used mat & sleeping bag but kept finding DD rolled off the mat and although she didn't complain, I thought it must be uncomfortable, so bought an inflatable mattress with raised edges that she can't roll out of. It looks really cosy and comfy and she is happy in it.

DD got her sleeping bag for her 3rd birthday from her Grandparents - I think it was about £20 from the camping shop in town. It's a bright pink child's 2 season one (we only really go camping in summer).

We all sleep on self-inflating mats with dd (6 months) in the middle. Both the ds have always used normal adult sleeping bags, starting from 2.5 and 4 years old. They need socks and fleece PJs over their ordinary ones. We just camped at the end of April and dd wore: vest, tights, baby gro, jumper, fleece suit, grobag and woolly hat, but she doesn't have a proper sleeping bag yet, so needed all the layers...she was warmer next to us on the mats than by herself on the readybed, so we gave up on that.
