Well we did - second attempt following an attempt last yr where i ended up feeling like i had a dicky tum. Anywy went over weekend and 4 of us were in a std pod again though i really wanted to try the larger one - are they much larger anyone? Anyway had an awful night with no sleep and had the door open with my head to it - it just felt sooo wrong. Anyone else had this problem? I want to love it as dh hates camping and its a compromise. I just yearn my bed and i was right put off with other aspectis of camping - have i lost my camping mojo as i heard myself saying the words "sell the tent"

What about buying a folding camper? It's kind of half-tent, half-caravan. I've never been in a pod, but I imagine they can be a bit claustrophobic.

I've got a Pennine folding camper, but they're quite expensive. I didn't realise when we bought it that there were so many different makes. There's Raclet, Holtkamper, Conway. The reason I say folding camper and not trailer tent is that I think the FCs are quicker to get up and ready.

My DH won't camp in a tent, either, so this is our compromise. You don't sleep on the ground and that's the bit DH likes. Also, you get running water and a proper kind of settee. You can get bigger ones with toilets in them, but that was a step too far for us. We keep it on the drive, which we might not be able to if it were a caravan. You might like it, too, as the top bit's canvas? It won't hurt to go and have a look, will it? It might get you excited again.

this is theonly thing that would get me excited but dh is a big no no on this too though this is my dream a fc - love a pathfinder but would settle for a pullman (see i have even looked at them myself). Can i ask - as the beds kind of hang out the main body are they chilly from underneath? We had a trailer tent many yrs ago and i dont recallit being cold but we did nearly divorce over the erection Grin. I just need a good nights warm sleep. I have a tiny car and dh has a fancy pants bigger one he refuses to put a tow bar on - perhaps i should divorce him ?

How about trying a tent again but sleeping on one of these. I am getting one this week :)

...just wanted to say the warmth and comfort is meant to be brilliant.I have a really warm, very wide, sleeping bag I bought last year with a fleece blanket on top, my pillow from home and a hot water bottle. It should be toasty warm....

the beds aren't cold even though they hang over the edge.

The reason I suggested an FC is that the "erection" is easy. Pull up, un-hitch, pull back the cover, lift over one bed, lift over the other, pull down canvas, adjust poles (5 each side, push-button ones), velcro canvas round. We've removed the wardrobe unit, but you would do that now, then attach sink, attach cooker, attach shelf unit.

That's basically it. You can travel with the sleeping bags and pillows on the beds. There are many cupboards and a fridge, too.

Has your DH actually looked at FCs and their "erection"? You don't need a huge car to tow a Pullman. We've only got a Zafira because there are five of us, but people tow them with Focuses. They really are a doddle to tow. I tow when we go to France. Because they're not higher than a car that's what makes them easier to tow. You don't need extra wing mirrors on the car, either.

My DH kind of had to agree as it's the only way we could afford to go on holiday where the sun is almost guaranteed to shine.

another vote here for a folding camper. We've just bought one to replace our tent. I hate sleeping in tents as I find them too claustrophobic - but I'm fine in our camper, even though it's one of the smaller models ( Pennine Aztec). DH can put ours up singlehandedly in about 30 mins.

i have serious foldign camper envy here Envy.
